Anyone heard from Sarah?

Postby Sarah30 » Thu Jun 19, 2003 9:54 am

Hi Emma

HERE I AMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

I'm well peed off with this site. I've posted 4 long update posts now all of which have vanished the same day. I'm waiting to see if it's stable again before I wear my fingers out typing it all over again.

How are you and babies bump? I'm feeling so much more relaxed now -had my nuchal scan and everything was normal phewwweeeee!! Sickness seems to have gone (except when I get hungry or eat something that doesn't agree with me).

I weighed myself the other day and seem to have only put on 5 pounds - have you put on much weight? I thought it would be piling on by now! Bump is starting to stick out a bit now, and have switched to elasticated and maternity clothes only for comfort.

ummm what else - oh got my first antenatal appointment today with the midwife. NOt sure what she'll do but will find out later (1.45 my app is).

So how are you doing - tell me all your news.

Oh one more thing - I found out from the IVF clinic that I'm 5 days behind what I thought I was - I worked out my date from the 1st day of my last period but that's wrong - it goes from the day of ET and add on two weeks. So I wasn't 12 weeks until Tuesday last week - or was it wednesday - Ican't remember now, I'm so confused with it all.

so come on, tell me about ??????

Love Sarah x

ps - hope everyone else is ok too - Tracey - how you doing? Bearing up, not going insane yet with all the worrying and waiting??

Postby Tracey S » Thu Jun 19, 2003 11:02 am

Sarah

I was wondering where you were but you and I kept losing post didn't we - I did remember your bra size though - still laughing - it's only jealousy. rolled on mine last night and woke up again. Haven't got a full night's sleep in god knows how long - I presume this is normal
I have been taking dates from day 1 of last AF but is 2 days different for me as taking it from ET plus 2 weeks which makes me not 8.4 today but 8.2! - I preferred the former as it makes it closer to 12 weeks. Currently Sarah I am having small minor flaps about pessaries - I stop in 8 days just before 10 weeks - around 9.5 - keep worrying that my body will not produce any on it's own now and will decide to be lazy. And it is only progesterone pessaries that are keeping me going - mad I know but help me out here please. Have my first appointment with the midwife on monday as I brought it forward - she lives up the street from me and I knew her already just hadn't clicked she would be my midwife. Met her pissed up at various wine do's! (god hope I don;t lose all this). I need my nuchal scan and am in France at 12.3 weeks so need to get referred to Queens in Nottingham so can book me in. She is doing this Monday. Apart from that just limping towards 12 weeks and hoping. Thanks for the reassurance about heart beats and 95% - nobody told me this - where do they get the 1 in 4 lose them at first trimester then?
Not feeling sick at all just dog tired with sore boobs which is still a sign in my book.
Glad you are well and keep it up.
Anyone heard a dickey bird from Aileen?
Love
Tracey
xxxx

Hi Tracey - the 1 in 4 figure in the first trimester bit is usually before week 8. The most dangerous time to miscarry are weeks 6 - 8 because that is the time that organs are being formed, so any chromosomal or genetic irregularities will only show themselves up in weeks 6 to 8 (this material won't have been needed beforehand), and therefore the risk of miscarriage is higher in these weeks, as Ma Nature rejects it if there are these sort of problems. Once a heartbeat has been detected, usually at 8 weeks then the risk of miscarriage is really low.

Also, wouldn't worry too much re the pessaries - when I tested positive my clinic told me I didn't need to take any more, so whether you take them or not may be determined by clinic protocol.

Love sally x

Sally

thank you so much for that - you sound so much more upbeat - can you sound upbeat over the web! or on a keyboard - I know it's scan time this week isn't it - do hope all is ok and that you just have the one - I know some mad people like me wanted twins (not that I am not happy with one! and would be worrying about m/c even more with 2) but I know you said you wanted just the one.
We are all here to hold your hand over the web.
Take care and thanks again
Love
Tracey
xxxxx

Tracey - about the pessaries, i'm just coming off mine now, well 3 more to go anyway. On Tuesday I went for a blood test (arranged by the IVF clinic) so they could check my progesterone level. This was to make sure that I was making enough progesterone to stop using the pessaries - my levels were fine so i'm nearly finished. Maybe phone the clinic and ask them about how they'll know if you'll be ok without then.

Mine said as well that by 12 weeks your body WILL be making enough of it's own.

Don't start panicking that I've been on them for longer - when I got pregnant last year (when I had the miscarriage at 8 weeks) my progesterone level dropped badly at 4 weeks (when i had the blood test to double confirm pregnancy) which is why they've kept me on so long this time - just in case!

Dog tierd and sore boobs sounds familiar to me - am still feeling like it now - could sleep allllllllll day long.

You're getting there girl - it will be 12 weeks before you know it!

guess what - my midwife told me today that there's another IVF girl who's with her, exactly the same dates as me and expecting twins - she was treated at the same clinic as me and lives near me too - amazing or what - she's going to put us in touch which will be brill! can't believe my luck!

take care now and now mad panics you!

love sarah x

Hi Sarah, Tracey and Sally

Glad your back Sarah was wondering how your getting, so how far are you then????????

Well what about me, I'm 12 weeks and 6 days!! Had my nuchal fold scan - twin one risk for downs is 1:2147, twin two risk 1:1198, they said these were very good ratio and wouldn't recommend and further testing, sounds goggly goup to me but totally reassured.

Sickness for me has stopped too apart from when I get stressed and like you hungry and then I can throw up at a moments notice!!!!

I know I have put on weight, nothing fits anymore. Boobs are massive and firm DP likes it loads.

I'm getting married on the 26th July so making arrangements for that is taking up a lot of my time!

Tracey, how you doing, I remember feeling very uneasy about things (and still do) but I can remember my mum saying to me that I read too many statistics and worry too much instead of being positive.

Sally, sorry I don't remember how far you are? Are you expecting one or two?

By the way when are you suppose to have your first appt. with the midwife, my next appt. is on the 10th July at the hospital is that too long? My 20 week scan is on the 8th August, the day before my 35th birthday!

Take care girls

lol
Emma
Hi Tracey - yes I do feel lots better thanks - I have narrowed this depression down to hormones and a very real terror of childbirth, which has always put me off having children. If I think of everything without the birth aspect then I don't feel too bad, so have narrowed it down to that little factor! I've made an appointment with my GP next week and am going to ask to see a counsellor as I obviously have some very deep-seated issues!!! I'm definitely going to push (!!!) for an elective c section, as now that I am pregnant my fear of childbirth has increased to such an extent that I cannot imagine giving birth without either crying or vomiting! The scan is next Tuesday, and I am totally dreading it being twins - my sister in law had twins after GIFT, and although they are blissfully happy, it has been terribly difficult and hard work. Am really very worried, as this morning's trousers were a bit tight (and am only 7 weeks today), but then I have been overeating rather so hopefully it's that!
I'm a bit worried about my clinic being less than bothered - no blood tests re hcg, no pessaries - think I am lucky to be offered a scan!
thanks for all the support - I need the cyber hand-holding!
love SAlly xxxxx
PS - Anyone heard from Bubblyshell - haven't seen a post from her for ages. Shell - are you ok????

HI all,

Glad to hear about the risk of M/C being decreased after 8 weeks. I've been telling the odd person - but being careful not to tempt fate by telling the world too soon!!

Can't wait until 12 weeks and also getting fatter! I already have a fat tummy, but I think it's partly due to the amount of food I've been eating (the steroids make be hungry all the time and I even fantasise about food when I'm driving, and possibly the pregnancy.

Waiting to hear from Kings about the nuchal fold scan. I was offered a scan at my local Nuffield Hospital (private) in Hove, but I declined as I feel that we've already spent so much money on 4 IVF cycles!

I went to see the midwife last Friday. She didn't do alot - just told me what not to eat, told me about the scan options, etc. I've got another appointment with her next Friday - I think she's going to make an appointment with an obstetrician (he happens to be the same guy that did my scan at the Nuffield last Saturday - very handy!)and take bloods, etc.

That's all for now.

Alison

Sally - (sorry Sarah seem to have taken over your thread - see haven't changed from when I was on the other side!) glad it's not just me - I am stuffing for Europe - this week have been eating 2 lunches a day - DH makes me one and then get another! I have ulcerative colitis so am always a bit bloated - pg calms it down though - some go to never going to the loo on number 2's and I go to normal as opposed to all the time!
Trousers don't fit - not helped by the fact I put some weight on stuffing my face in italy etc so I have a shirt outside for work and leave them undone but getting silly now.
Not feeling sick or nauseous or only when exhausted feel a bit iffy so still stuffing. Know what you mean about giving birth - oh my goodness the horror stories - sorry!. With twins you generally get elective don't you! - Mind you you should be ok with you - if they get a hint of you worrying too much they do tend to do them. went back through the threads and realized scan is next week isn't it! - oops salt and vinegar crips down the keyboard - not wasting those!
I was wondering where Shell had got too - since the site went down - people keep disappearing.
Alison

How's tricks with you - i have first midwife appointment on monday. What bloods are they taking - my clinic took them all ie hiv etc - would they not copy them in? She is then referring me to nottingham to get my nuchal sorted - need to get a shift on - now worrying that it will come back high risk!

Sarah - thanks re the pessaries - I did know about your levels - when I was first pg on first IVF it was ectopic and I had stopped taking them on day 10 post transfer cos AF arrived - sure enough they still got a heart beat. It's just last FET I had none and it didn't work and this time it did - thought maybe the pessaries but could be anything like better embryos or my time!
Emma - fantastic re the nuchal - I am 37 July 15 so would be delighted with anything around the 1 in 500 mark!
Can't believe you have got there so quickly!

Take care
Love
Tracey
xxx

[Edited by Tracey S on 19-Jun-03 17:00]

Anyone heard from Sarah?

Postby Sarah30 » Fri Jun 20, 2003 8:08 am

helloooo smeeee again

someone work out how far gone I am please - I had ET on 9th April. I think I'm either 12+2 or 12+3, not sure which. The clinic told me to go from 25th April but that's 2 weeks + 1 day before ET ARRRGGHHHHH I don't know where I am.

So how come my nuchal scan man just said both of my babies nuchal folds were perfectly normal and that was it. He didn't give me any figures or anything? Mind you he did say he would write to the GP so maybe he will put them in the letter to her. I don't know, am not worried though, normal is good enough for me.

Regarding weight - I assumed I had put on weight because I've had to start wearing maternity (they're all pretty big, but nothing of mine was fitting round the waist and boobs had outgrown shirts too) but even with that, I've only put on 5lb max, I thought I'd have put on 1/2 stone or more by now. Suppose I should be glad that it's not piling on!

Have to have my 12 weeks blood tests done this week (I already had a blood test on Tuesday to come off the pessaries and they really struggled to get it - I was in agony, it's really put me off going for the other one, am delaying it for a few days - maybe next week hey!).

Emma, my next appointment with the midwife is 10th July too - how freaky! Same scan dates - same appointment dates ooohhhhhhhhh

Nothing else to report today - snivelling my head off as have a cold, but pharmesist said I could take Vicks Sinex nasay spray - I check with the midwife and she said it was ok too - I thought you couldn't have decongestants! Needed something though as had a terrible nights sleep the other night - couldn't breath at all through my nose.

Anyway, am rambling

take care everyone

Sarah x

sarah

morning my rambling mate - dates - oh hum not sure - with full cycles of IVF/ICSI they take it from ET date minus two weeks to get day one if that makes sense. For "normals" they do it from last AF - I took mine from last AF - I was on 28 day cycle and ovulated day 14 that month so all quite easy. When I had my scan to confirm heartbeat I thought I was 7.3 days but they gave 7.1 because she said she took it from ET less two weeks which is two days different. AF was the monday and Et the wednesday. My midwife on the phone said not much difference either way with FET - who knows! - I like the one further along - makes me feel better.
The weight bit is probably muscles stretching too - I can't do my trousers up at 8 and something or other weeks - some of this is probably my colon and the rest is probably stuffing. I mean baby is the size of a nut isn't it - speaking of which did we sort the debate on peanuts?
My trousers are posing a dilemma cos I put a bit of weight on before and now am suffering - don't want to get big ones yet -what to do for work I ask myself - suggestions.
Blood - poor you - they seem to get mine out no probs with or without asprin which I am still on
Take care
Love
Tracey
xx

peanuts - yeah i'd forgotton about that. they reckon that if you or your partner or immediate families have suffered with any allergies (including eczema, asthma, hayfever etc) then you should avoid nuts and nut relating things. Well we don't have any nut allergy or asthmas but a couple of us have mild eczema. I've taken the plunge and had some peanut butter but I might actually try to avoid it and only have it if i desperately NEED it. Wouldn't bother eating nuts or anything though, am not fussed on them.

with the dates, I'm just gonna go with day of ET -2 minus two weeks which is what the clinic said to do (even though I'm FET - so confussing) that makes me 8+3 today according to their dates. EDD New Years Day hehehehe

bye the way - what's ulcerative colitis? i haven't heard of it. doesn't sound nice anyway, poor you.

sarah x
Dear Sarah and all,

Now I'm really confused about dates! My ET was on 28th April, so they count my LMP as 14th April (i.e. 2 weeks earlier). This makes me 9 weeks and 4 days, and my EDD is 19th Jan. Sarah - how can you be 8 weeks and 3 days, with an EDD of Jan 1st?

Nut allergies - I've not got any history of allergies, but I'm not eating peanuts. Does the same apply to all nuts? I don't eat many.

Tracey - I assume the midwife will be taking normal bloods (haematology / chemistry) but I need to have regular bloods to make sure the steroids aren't doing any damage, plus HIV, Hep B, syphilis, etc. I'm sure that they'll all come back as normal - so I'm not worried.

At least the postings aren't disappearing as they were last week.

Have a nice weekend everyone - another week gone and another week closer to the magical 12 weeks!!

Alison xx
