Did anyone else have this happen?

Postby nicaliw » Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:32 pm

I'm pregnant (maybe) after my first round of IVF. On Sunday I started bleeding bright red blood and cramping. Probably enough to soak about one pad in total. I went to the ER, they did an ultrasound and saw a gestational sac implanted high in the uterus that did not appear to be detaching. I passed a few clots also but nothing that looked like tissue and my cervix was still closed. I was 5 weeks and 3 days on the day of the bleed. Although they found a gestational sac they weren't able to see a yolk sac. They didn't make a big deal out of it and neither has my RE but I am convinced this is the end of this pregnancy. I'm so confused and frustrated, being stuck with 4 more days until they'll do another ultrasound, not knowing if this baby inside me is dead or alive. One theory offered by the hospital staff is that the bleeding was a misscariage of one embryo and the other is still going to do well. (We transfered 2 blasts)

I was just wondering if anyone out there had some words of wisdom or similar experiences. You can tell me the bad news, too, its OK, I already feel like this one is over.

I had some spotting at 5 & 1/2 wks & an U/S showed 2 sacs. The next day I had red bleeding for several hours, including some clots. They then gave me the theory I may have m/c one embryo. An U/S the day after that revealed 2 embryos still doing fine. The OB did that U/S, rather than a "technician" & he identified 2 areas where bleeding was coming from and said it was a "subchorionic bleed" that may occur by the embryo trying to get a good attachment in the uterine lining. I continued to have some spotting over the next several days, but it finally stopped & I am still pregnant with both babies. Don't worry too much but take it easy over the next few days. I bet everything is fine. Good Luck!

Thanks, that does sound very much like my situation. Congrats to you!!!
I woke up this morning and realized my breast were less swollen and less painful, so another sign of bad things to come or just coincidence? I guess I'll find out soon.

Soreness in your breasts may be from progesterone, which fluctuates & which your body continues to adjust to. The soreness in your breasts, mild cramping, etc. will come and go when you do IVF. It really isn't indicative of anything. I would panic every time I had a twinge of AF like cramps, or when my breast stopped being tender. It wasn't even relevant. We probably are just way more attuned to our bodies than ladies who take pregnancy for granted. Good Luck!

OH Nikki... I am so, so sorry :( I had such hope but I do really believe that this proves that you will have your miracle... It took me 12 years to get here and I take every day as nothing more than a miracle and a blessing... You will be doubly blessed...

Please let us know how you are and when you do your FET...

Nicaliw- I'm so very, very sorry. It is such a difficult reality to face. I really hoped that you would have positive results.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers through this healing process and look forward to seeing you again next year. Hopfully the New Year will bring us all a renewed spirit, body and mind, prepared for the new tiny miracles ready to begin within them.
