I haven't posted anything in a little while. I just found out earlier this month that our first attempt at ivf failed, despite the fact that everything was in our favor. My doc was really shocked when she found out it didn't work. They're going to do things a little differently this time...they said rather than a 3dt, they're going to wait for a 5 day blastocyst transfer and this will be done with ICSI this time. They're running some tests to see if I possibly have some type of auto-immune issue, as well as other stuff. Has anybody had better luck the second time around?

You sound a lot like me. I had everything going for me too, 16 fertilized but only two made it to blast (none to freeze), yet everything looked good. No dice. They later did an endometrial biopsy and found I had an infection, which I took antibiotics for (twice, as it was still mildly there after a second biopsy). They also did a hysteroscopy and removed a polyp. Either one of those (or both) could have hampered implantation. I am stimming now for my second cycle (hopefully last since we don't have Shared Risk) and I am praying the problems were taken care of and that this works! Good luck

Another person fixing to start my second cycle. The first one was a study cycle, and it turned out to be a BFN at BETA. I did have a Positive on day 7, 8 and 9 on a HPT though....so not really sure what happened. I never went back to the doctors for my follow up consult.....I was really really thinking I'd just move on. I can't get this off my mind though....and so here we are at cycle 2, my consult is on Monday.
I have already started taking Prenatals and Royal Jelly, last time I didn't start taking prenatals until I started injections.....this time I'll have been on them for about 3-4 months before that point.
Really praying that it's our time....as we didn't do a shared risk the first time and most shared risk programs don't allow you to do anything but the 3 cycle if you've had a failed IVF prior....so we'll probably end up paying OOP with no refund this time as well. The first time wasn't so expensive due to it being a study, so we don't have any debt from it...thank goodness or we wouldn't be moving forward with #2.
Good luck to us all

hi and welcome to the board!!
i had everything going for me too and my first cycle failed. i was only 21 when i did my first cycle, had no problems (problem is with dh), we had 2 class A embryos transferred on day three but it didnt work. second time round we had two class A embryos transferred again and one was successful. so out of 4 embryos we had one little girl.
after my first attempt i (and a lot of other people) were confused why it did not work but my clinic told me it's a 1 in 3 chance and that they dont do any additional testing until someone has had at least three attempts. they said its a simple roll of the dice.
my personal view is that with the first cycle, your body has a shock. all those drugs, all those nerves, adrenaline, etc, i think is very unnatural and it takes a while for your body to get used to all that. i was also a lot more stressed with my first cycle than i was with my second as it was the unexpected. so those were the reasons for me why it didnt work first time. but bottom line is, nobody knows why things dont work and so its just a matter of keep trying if money affords it.
anyway, will stop rambling on now...best of luck and dont give up!!

Don't give up hope! I am sitting here with my 5 week old baby boy and remembering the days where you are! It didn't work for me until try #3! And my doctors were shocked it didn't work the first time! I transferred 3 5 day blasts one being the best possible quality and BFN! My second attempt again 3 blasts all poor quality and I had a chemical pregnancy then my third cycle I transferred 3 blasts okay quality..this time did assisted hatching and didnt do ICSI and BFP! SO sometimes they just need to figure out what will work for you! Good luck, I sincerely pray that everyone gets their miracle baby!
