November 2009 babies?

Announcement of pregnancy and birth following assisted reproductive treatment.

Welcome Nursegator! At my Monday ultrasound, I will be just under 6 weeks - I am a few days behind you.

You should be able to see a heart beat right around 6.5 - 7 weeks. Not to take away the excitement, but at least for us, seeing the hearbeat will only be a step, though I did not know the 5% statistic and it should let everyone take a deep breath. I have had two miscarriages after seeing a heartbeat in the past 9 months - so I feel like the journey is much longer. I miscarried once at 6.5 weeks and the second time at 8.5. We are crossing our fingers that the third time is a charm, but am not going out to buy anything yet.

Charr, a close friend had heavy bleeding through her two pregnancies and has two healthy, beautiful kids. Some women just bleed, so think good thoughts and keep the great attitude!

Wondercat, huge congrats on the ultrasound! Yea!!!!!!!

Love and great wishes to everyone![/b]

excited-in-la: I'm so sorry for your miscarriages! How awful to have been through that twice in such a short time. I guess being infertile means not relaxing until we have that baby safely in our arms. :(

I had my second ultrasound today and we saw 2 heartbeats! One heartbeat was 116 and the other 129. I'm still having the bleeding but everything looks to be fine, so I'm trying not to worry about it. I'm a little overwhelmed still at the thought of twins. I just pray for them both to be strong and healthy.

Ivy & Hopeful - Best of luck at your ultrasounds tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

Excited-in-LA - Sorry to hear of your miscarriages. Stay strong and positive!

Char~congratulations on the two healthy heartbeats! How exciting! You must be so relieved to know that everything is going ok in there. I would love to have twins--how cool.

Excited in LA~I am so sorry to hear about your two recent miscarriages. Do they know why they happened? Were your betas increasing properly? Did you have any clues like spotting or pain or was it very sudden? I sure hope third time is a charm for you--you have been through so much and deserve to be a Mum at last.

I am feeling very weepy lately. I cried on and off all day yesterday! Is this happening to anybody else? Are you all feeling especially emotional? I'm worried about miscarrying and just want to know that everything is ok in there. I am feeling frustrated as I still have to wait another week for my US. I did have a fourth bloodtest today and my awaiting the results.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this message board but I thought I would start with the November babies posts because our due date is Nov. 17th (i think). I got my first BFP after 4 years, 6 failed IUIs, and 7 failed IVFs. After I got the greatest phone call of my life with the news last week I made my husband run out and buy a home pregnancy test just so I could finally see those pink lines! I just turned 40 (severe endometriosis) and my DH is 39. We are in shock! My first beta was 750 and my second beta was 5,154. After reading about all the beta numbers out there I'm guessing we are looking at twins.

Our first u/s is on March 30 and I'm freaking out. I had absolutely no spotting ever during any failed cycle or the whole time during this successful cycle so far. This morning I awoke to some spotting - I'm just past 5 weeks. Should I be worried?

Can't wait to hear how you are all progressing. Best of luck to all of you!

Welcome, Cristi, and congratulations! I think you're right, twins could be in your future. We just found out yesterday we're having twins. As for the spotting, I've been spotting since pretty much right away. It started out pink but in the last week has turned bright red. It definitely worries me but so far everything is fine so I guess only time will tell. You definitely deserve this BFP after all the procedures you've been through. Try to stay relaxed and have positive thoughts.

Char, thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I guess I will remain calm until there is reason to worry. After reading so much about spotting and no spotting I'm beginning to think it's pointless to worry - we are all different.

Congratulations on your twins! It must be so great to see that they are really there, hearts beating and all. What is your next step? How soon will you have another ultrasound? Ours is 10 days away - an eternity.

One more question to all the ladies: have you started exercising at all? I'm even nervous to take my dog on our usual 40 minute route. I was told absolutely no exercise for the 2 week wait, but what about now? Any advice?

charr - Congrats on the two heartbeats! I still have a week and a half to go until my next u/s when they hope to hear the heartbeat and I can't wait!

nursegator - I know how you feel on seeing those pink lines. I bought a 3-pack of tests and ended up using every single one of them over the course of the week before my first beta just to see those lines pop up, with the second one darker every time. :) My husband thought I was nuts, but oh well...

cristi262 - Congrats and welcome! As to exercising, I think at this point we should be OK to take walks, but realize that you might get a LOT more tired than you normally do. I have been having my husband walk our dogs because after 10 minutes I feel like taking a nap and they need a longer walk than that. I also usually walk 4 miles every afternoon, but the only time since my BFP I did it I thought I was going to collapse by dinner time and I had some abdominal cramping. I have been OK doing a slower 2 mile walk instead.

Ivy and Hopeful - Thinking of you today. Hope you got great news!

Charr - Yea! So excited for you about the two heartbeats. My first beta was high (690) and the second just doubled, so we do not know how many are there. We will see Monday!

Cristi262 - Welcome and congrats on the pink lines. I went and bought the tests that actually have the digital read - I did not even trust myself with those lines and wanted to see it say "pregnant." I told my husband I was sure the lab had confused my test with someone else's and I needed to see it!

Thank you all for your good wishes. My first miscarriage was after my third IUI in April 2008 (no stim, no clomid, etc.) The pregnancy did not feel right to me from the beginning. I was spotting and there was a strange smell. The doctors and my husband convinced me it was all in my head, but I knew. I was at work one day, went to the bathroom and there was blood everywhere. We rushed to the doctor and the heartbeat was strong, so I went on bedrest for 4 days. When I went back for an ultrasound, the heartbeat was gone and we had to do a D&C. The chromosomes were dead so there was no info.

My second miscarriage was in November 2008 after my first IVF cycle at 8.5 weeks. We went in for our third ultrasound - we had seen a heartbeat on the second and everything was perfect. The doctor said he was a little concerned because the outline as a bit faint at the third ultrasound, but there was a heartbeat and the fetus was exactly the right size. He had me come in a few days later and the heartbeat was gone. Just gone. I had to have another D&C (I was not willing to wait for the progesterone to get out of my system and miscarry naturally in about a week.) This time they were able to get chromosomes, so we knew it was a girl. The chromosomes were abnormal, so the doctors said it was just a complete fluke and we should go for it again.

They said we just hit really bad luck twice, although I insisted they run every test they could, which cost more than the IVFs and taught us that everything is basically normal!

We are very excited about this pregnancy, but obviously cautious.

Sending hugs to all!

U/S today...

Postby Ivy Frances » Fri Mar 20, 2009 10:36 pm

Only have a minute, but wanted to let you all know that I guess it is real after all! At my 6 wk U/S today, they saw the sac, yolk, heartbeat and fetal pole for one and then saw possibly another smaller sac and yolk! My RE said we'll have to keep an eye on that one. It would be surprising to have twins though with my betas (see signature) - my doctor seemed very surprised and we definitely were not thinking of that possibility. Next U/S is 4/3. Another 2 wk wait begins. Congrats Charr on the news - twins is exciting and scary I'm sure! Hopeful, hope all went well for you today as well. Welcome to the new mommies-to-be and congrats! Still no symptoms really except for being hungry a lot.....

Ivy - Congrats on your U/S! One or two, I wish you all the best. Don't worry about no symptoms because we are all different. I don't have many symptoms myself - just slight indigestion and a little spotting that started yesterday. Other than that I don't feel pregnant. Good luck in 2 weeks.

Wondercat - Thanks so much for the walking/exercising advice. I think I may start going for some strolls and see how I feel. Good luck on your next ultrasound.

exited in la - thanks for sharing your heartbreaking stories. I can't wait to hear your happy story this time. Hang in there and I'll be sending you positive thoughts.

Ivy - Congratulations on your ultrasound! I hope you're feeling more relieved having seen it's real.

Cristi - Our next ultrasound is in one week, March 26. I think it'll be my last appt. and they'll release me to my own OB. It was amazing to see the heartbeats. I know with each ultrasound and each time seeing they're still doing well, I think I'll begin feeling less anxious. I have been walking our dog again now, but haven't done much else for exercise. I would like to but it's hard to get motivated with not feeling well.

Sue - I had one day, too, this past week where I was feeling more emotional. Lately I feel a bit in a haze. I think it's because of the nausea and just not feeling well.

Excited-in-LA - Thanks for sharing your story. I think this is your time and also can't wait for a happy ending for you.

Sorry I haven't posted to give you all an update on my U/S that was Friday. Unfortunatly it wasn't the best news. The hb is at 96 and anything under 100 at this point is cause for concern. The baby is also measuring smaller than it should at 7 weeks it is measuring closer to 6 weeks. This was devasting news to us on Friday. Basically, I think we have a 50/50 chance that it will end in miscarriage or that the baby will catch up. The doctor said to remain cautiously optimistic. I am really trying to remain positive at this point I am still pregnant and I am just hoping the baby will catch up. I have another U/S scheduled for a week from today (30th) so all I can do is wait and see what the outcome of the U/S is. I am not sure if any of you know of any success stories that have come out of a similar situation, if you do I would love to hear them. Going through IVF is an emotional rollar coaster, one minute you are on cloud nine the next you are crying your eyes out. I just hope and pray that my situation turns out to be one of the successful ones. Thank you all for your support. I will be sure to keep you updated.

Hopeful_VA - We have been thinking of you and waiting to hear. We are sending good thoughts and really hoping for the best. Every step is a hurdle and it is almost always a rocky road. Try to stay positive, as there is really nothing you can do until you go in next week. I know how hard that week can be, but keep busy and keep thinking good thoughts!

Nursegator - Hope you have good news from your ultrasound today.

We went in this morning and saw a beautiful little black dot (not two, which let me exhale a little since my first beta was 690!) My last pregnancy which miscarried, we measured 8 at this point and today we measured 10 - so that is a good sign - but I know every step along the way is a blessing and am waiting for the heartbeat next week.

We go back next Monday, March 30 as well. Will be sending good thoughts to all of you!

Hopeful in VA~Big hug for you. I can only imagine what you are going through right now. I am thinking of you and hoping the next ultrasound shows the baby has caught up.

Excited in LA~Im so happy to hear that your first scan went well and the baby is already measuring 10! This is great news and I know you must feel some relief.

Ivy Frances~I am so excited for you--congrats on your scan results! You must feel so relieved--are you more excited now that you know it is for real?

I am still waiting for my first scan on Friday. I am trying to stay away from Google as it fills my head with horrible scenarios! I am feeling quite naseous nowadays, but have not actually thrown up yet. Last night I had dry heaves--but nothing came out. It's tough to find any food that appeals to me nowadays--the thought or smell of most foods makes me feel sick. Is this happening to anybody else?
