Just got back from the anatomy scan..............

Hey everyone,

Thought I would post a quick update so everyone would know how our situation was going. My wife is 21 1/2 weeks now so we went in for the anatomy scan today. Everything looked good, but they found a small small cyst, less than 1/3 of a millimeter, in the left side of Zachary's brain. They said they weren't worried about it because these cyst's are normal, but I can't help, but freak out a little bit. They said the rest of the scan was great for both babies and they would only be concerned with this cyst if Zac had other things going on, i.e. cysts in other areas as well, dark spots in other areas, etc. They said the only reason they told us is because they have to and I understand that from a liability stand point, but I'm a little worried right now. Both babies weighed 1.1 pounds and both are right on track to be perfectly normal babies. Just wanted to see if anyone else had something like this come up in their scan? It's called a choroid plexus cyst, thanks ahead of time for the info.

BigRed:

I know you are freaking out right now. I can only imagine how I would be in your shoes. This link may make you feel better though. It sounds like the cyst will probably vanish by the 3rd trimester and it's pretty common - 1 out of 4 fetuses have these cysts! http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/healt ... lexus-cyst

Take it easy and stay calm for your wife. With her hormones raging the way they are, she'll need a steady and reassuring voice.

Keep us posted on it!

coco-Thanks for the article, that does make me feel alot better. I'm not going to worry about it too much until we go through the next couple ultrasounds. According to that article it should be gone in three weeks so here's hoping that it is. We go back in two weeks for another ultrasound and then another one two weeks after that. The doctor wants to do this to one, watch the cyst and two, to reassure us that everything is most likely going to be okay.

Another update for everyone:

It's been awhile since I posted anything so I thought I would update everyone on our situation. My wife will be 26 weeks this Saturday and we went back for another anatomy scan yesterday to check both boys again. The cyst in Zac's brain is gone, thank god!!!!! We thought it would be, but to hear those words was a relief. Cael weighed in at 2.2 so he's gained 1.1 pounds in the past 3 or 4 weeks so he's an over achiever. Zac went from 1.1 to 1.15 so he fell behind his brother some, but he's still well within the normal range from what the doctor said. I guess he's going to have to start fighting his brother for some food! They are kicking my wife to death and it's crazy to feel them move when I put my hand on her stomach. Got the daycare provider nailed down and she seems like a fantastic lady with great reviews from the people she does business with. It's a little over our budget for the monthly cost, about $40, but some of the people we interviewed I wouldn't allow to watch my dogs.

I'm getting nervous about the costs of everything, but like everyone says, you figure out a way to make it work right?
