Advice for D&C from IVF #1 Scheduled Tomorrow

Postby hopeful_cycle_one » Tue Sep 22, 2009 2:20 pm

I'm at 7.5 wks and the baby stopped growing around week 5. Any advice? I opted for D&C to mitigate trauma and waiting for spontaneous m/c. I know the baby is not alive, but somehow having it removed seems like a loss all over again. TTC for 2+ years 0- first pregnancy result ever.

Any special prayers you might have that I can say?

I am so sorry you have suffered a loss, i have lost my baby at 8 wks and had d&c at 9 wks in June this year and wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. The procedure itself is ok - In ireland its under general anaesthetic so felt nothing, it was only bit sore afterwards just required a few painkillers. We opted for d&c as like yourself the baby just died but my body thought it was still pregnant and the doctor said it could take up to 3 months to lose it naturally. I felt a sense of relief when its was all over, i had said my goodbyes and just wanted to get back to doing my fet. I was given a prayer for St. Rita and St Jude - both for hopeless cases and pray to them daily even though i am not very religious, they have gotten my thro. the last 3 months and I am now 7 wks pregnant from my FET and praying V. hard that they find a healthy heartbeat tomorrow. I have been ttc for 7 years and this is my 6th attempt - you will find the courage and spirit to pick yourself back up again but you do need to grieve. The only consulation you have is that you got pregnant and i know that doesnt help you now but we had 4 failed attempts before our 1st bfp and knowing we could finally get pregnant made us even more determined to continue. I will admit getting pregnant again so soon after m/c is nerve racking but all our tears shed will be worth it in the end when we finally get to hold our little miracles. I hope you find peace after the d&c and continue your ivf journey till you get your little baby.
