Michele - That is wonderful news. I am praying as well that those numbers keep going up!!!!!!
Rio - I am doing well, it just has been so hectic. I have been keeping up, but I haven't been posting, sorry about that.
Katie is 10 months old now. She is an absolute joy. I love every second of being her mother. At her 9 month appointment which was actually at 9 months three weeks, she measured 30.5 inches long (over 97th percentile) and 20.5 lbs ( 75th percentile). I don't know the head measurement, but it was also 75th percentile. The doctor said she needs the weight and head percentiles high, since her height percentile is so high. I am not sure where her height is coming from, but I'm sure it will settle down and even out, because there is only one person on either side of our families that is considered over average height. I am below average height myself.
Katie has no teeth yet. I thought for sure a few times that she was teething, because she would chew on her hand and fuss like her mouth was hurting, but no teeth yet. Our doctor said that probably one of us cut our teeth late and it is genetic, so nothing to worry about. She said some kids are born with teeth, some don't get any until 15 months. It doesn't stop her from eating, however, she just gums everything.
She is not crawling yet either. She has always hated being on her belly, and we never pushed the issue, so I think we are pretty much to blame. We just loving holding her so much, that we weren't putting her down. We have been putting her on the floor a lot more lately w/ toys, so hopefully soon. Although, she might never crawl, because she does walk across the floor when we are holding her hands, and she pulls herself up on us all the time, so she might just skip that step. According to the doctor, many children skip crawling, so it is no big deal. The last week or so, she has gotten herself on her stomach a few times, and tried to move, and scooted backwards, so who knows. Just this weekend, she has started sleeping on her stomach. This was very strange the first time we saw it, as she has always hated her belly so much, but she is all over her crib lately. We never know what position she will be in when we check on her.
Boy, our girl loves to play. She loves all of her toys, and she sits there and tries to figure things out, it is so fun to watch. She can also be quite loud when she wants. Sometimes in a high pitched tone, and sometimes in a deeper tone. When she is getting a bath, sometimes I need earplugs because she is so loud, and it reverberates off the tile in the bathroom. The other day, she was on the floor playing w/ toys while her daddy was watching her. I went back into the bedroom and I hear MMMMOOOOMMMM and then crying. I went back out and she looked up and smiled.
For a girl who didn't want any baby food until almost 7 months, she just loves food now. She eats baby food, table food, baby puffs, baby goldfish crackers and yogurt. I can't really even think of anything that she doesn't like. It is fun to see her try new things and like them. I got gnocci at an italian restaurant in a garlic cream sauce. I cut the gnocci (potato dumpling) piece up and dipped in the sauce and gave her a bite. While she was chewing (gumming LOL), I picked up another piece and dipped in the sauce, and she grabbed my arm and brought it to her mouth. She just loved it.
I can't believe this year has gone so quickly. I need to start thinking about a first birthday party. I'm excited for Halloween, Katie will be a panda. I know she won't know too much of what is going on, but we will love taking pictures and showing her off.
It is so exciting hearing how all of your little one year olds are doing. And all the pregnancies are wonderful to hear about. I don't know if we are going to try again. I doubt it, quite honestly. My husband has always had great insurance (many choices, one of which had great infertility coverage), but they changed it this year and now it is take our plan or leave it. This plan only covers diagnosis, so thank god we have our little Katie. I am 42 years old and I don't think I can endure another fresh cycle. I think we are deciding that Katie is perfect, so why mess w/ perfection. I know that is a rationalization, but it is working for us.
I will try to keep up more with posting.
