Hello! Just a quickie for me because I'm about to get on the phone to tell family our news. It all went well at the scan, I'm in total shock that in 4 weeks the baby/foetus can go from being a 'blob' to an identifiable baby shape. The doctor we saw said that at 11wks3day he would hope that the baby would measure between 44 and 48mm head to toe - in fact, the baby is measuring 51mm so he/she is going to be tall like DH and I. Just as long as the baby's not wide as well - ouch!! DH found it amusing on the way home to inform me for the first time that he was a pretty big baby at birth!! We won't get the results of the blood test and our final assessment for the Downs Syndrome risk until Monday night, but he didn't find any of the high risk signs on the scan, so we're hopeful. Seeing the baby looking like a baby has made all of this seem a bit more real. I think it will sink in even more once we've told everyone our news.

katie - not long to go until your own scan, I'm counting down the days along with you! Mmmm, difficult question about your OB/GYN. Personally, I think I would prefer to go somewhere where I couldn't run across my ex-SIL, particularly if you think it likely that she might find out your background and then gossip about it. I guess the question is will that possibility stress you out more and more the closer to you get to the birth? You can do without any added stress!

Karen - welcome and congratulations on your BFP! Re exercising, I asked my clinic people what they recommended when I first found out that I was pregnant at 4wks2days. They pretty much said that, honestly, if the pregnancy is going to stick it's going to stick, regardless of what you do at this point (within reason). So no running marathons, but if your body is used to a certain level of exercise then it's perfectly fine to go back to it. I went back to my golf (which I play a LOT of) but I was a little nervous about really commiting to the shots. But if you get m/s you may not feel like doing anything anyway - I haven't been able to do anything at all most of the time since m/s kicked in at 6wks, let alone exercise!

Riley baby maybe - hello! Nope, the nervousness hasn't gone away with me at all, you just have to try and put it to the back of your mind so that it doesn't drive you crazy! You'll get there...

DandMe - hope you're feeling brighter today. Don't forget, we've got all these crazy hormones pumping round our bodies now, and that's bound to affect us in different ways on different days.

Roshaunda - hello to you as well! Wow, this thread is really taking off, it's so great!

me2009 - how lovely to see you again! Sorry to hear that you've had a rough road so far, hope that the rest of your pregnancy will be smooth sailing! A good friend of mine from these boards just had twin boys at the weekend, both around the 7lb mark. She didn't find out the sex either, the theory being that it was nice to have one part of this whole IVF process which was a bit of a mystery!

Anyway, I'm off to make some phone calls. Catch you all later!

So I am finally moving over to this board. I actually wrote a reasonably long post this morning and lost the whole thing. It's taken me this long to get over being frustrated and try again. :D

I'm still trying to get over the shock of having twins. While we knew it was a very good possibility and very open to the thought of it, it's still somewhat overwhelming. My DH and I keep coming up with all the things we are going to have to buy that we didn't have with our DS. This includes the dreaded minivan. As much as I would like to think that we could just get an SUV, with two newborns and a 4 year old, I know the minivan is the way to go. I just don't want to deal with the reality of it quite yet. :)

I go Tuesday to see my OB for an initial visit. I'm actually very excited because this is the doctor that was with us for our second and third miscarriages and is also the one that pushed to do all the genetic testing which uncovered my translocation. She would call me while she was on vacation and on weekends if or when she got updates. She was so awesome and I can't wait to share my news with her! After that I will have a u/s the w/o March 1st at either my OB or RE depending who can see me. I'll be 9 weeks by then and will probably feel much more calm and reassured after the second u/s.

On a side note, I don't consider myself to be completely technically challenged but I cannot figure out how to get my Lilypie ticker into my signature. I created it and then copied the BBCode over to my profile but it is just showing up as text. Can someone help?

Hi everyone -

So am I the only one that wakes up and thinks -"is it really true"? Everytime i catch myself thinking "I'm pregnant" it even is hard to believe in my thoughts!
I think whoever said that should subside when you get a u/s - I hope so! :D Is all of your DH's just over the top? Mine is practically busrting at the seams to tell people and I wont let him! We comprimised since waiting til the end of the 1st trimester will never happen  so we figured at least wait until we see the HB. Its hard to keep all of this inside isnt it?

Hazel I'm so excited for you!!! Did you get a sono picture? I hate to think that I'll show mine to anyone thats willing to look - but I think we all know - THAT I WILL TOO! So tall like you & DH? wonderful. I'm 5'10" and my DH is 6'5" so I'm hoping for tall also. It must have felt so fantastic to see everything today. Now you can exhale. And thank God it was all as it should be. Go Zorba! is it still Zorba? - xoxo

Sonya aw, I'm sorry you're having a rough day. But its all good - you're pregnant :D and we cant be held responsible for all of the massive amounts of hormones we've been ingesting - for how long now? I hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Me2009 I havent seen you in a long time! How are you? Arent you going to be dying of curiousity as to the genders? I would never make it -

Ashley Lots of trouble with getting the tickers up and running! When you're logged in, look below the reply box, you'll see a list of boxes - uncheck the one that says "disable BBCode" for some reason when the site came back all of those boxes had to be unchecked manually. Also erase everything before and after the [img] code. When I did both of those - it finally worked. Twins!!!!! I'm so excited for you! - but I hear you about the minivan -
How are you feeling? I'll bet you've got loads of symptoms with all that hcg running through you - just try to take it easy :D

Hi everyone. How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling great overall. Just analyzing every twinge, mild cramps that comes and goes, pulling feeling, gas pain, etc. I look forward to the first trimester to be complete. I'll worry much less. I had some brown spotting (very very light) last night and it lingered on and off throughout the day. I am assuming this is ok b/c it isn't heavy, red or accompanied by bad cramps. So that event completely solved my desire to exercise. I don't want to move a muscle now as to risk something. UGH. But I really do feel good. I feel so blessed and thankful. It is all still settling in. DH told me to go get the "what to expect" book so I can be in the know and depend less on the interent. Buying that book made it feel more real. It was an awesome feeling!!! Hope everyone is feeling great and having a wonderful weekend! :D

Hi everyone -

I found the greatest website! You can see everything thats going on inside through the whole pregnancy
its called - visembryo.com - if you hit "pregnancy timeline" under the picture are all of the the pregnancy weeks, just click on a week and it will show you the exact developement stage - I think its pretty cool to see! How is everyone feeling these days? I feel completely normal, i was kind of expecting to be feeling something, but I guess its still too early. I'm really eager and nervous also for the u/s on Tues. UGH - is it Tues yet?
much love- - xoxo

Hi girls. We've had a fun weekend of sharing our news with all our family and friends. Having everyone be so excited for us has made us even more excited as well. It's really starting to seem more real now, particularly as I woke up this morning and my stomach (which has been getting generally bigger since 8-9 weeks) definitely has a baby belly shape to it now. It's very noticeable, even though in theory when you read the books, the pregnancy doesn't start to show until after the first trimester (particularly for a first baby). The morning sickness is still there, but (dare I hope?) starting to slightly improve this weekend. I really want to think so, but only next week will tell...

Katie - what decision have you made about your OB/GYN? Not long to go until your u/s on Tuesday... Don't worry about feeling completely normal, I did too until my m/s kicked in about 6 weeks. If you get unlucky and get m/s too, you'll look back on these days of being able to eat and drink without puking and think how good it was!

Ashley - twins, wow! How have you been feeling physically? Roll on Tuesday and your first u/s. Tuesday's going to be good u/s day all round!

Karen - sorry to hear about the spotting, but it's very common and nothing to worry about unless you get a lot of pain and a bright red flow. So it's curbed your enthusiasm to exercise, huh? I guess that's only natural given what we all go through to get here! I'm sure that being active again will be no problem though, and good for your body too.

me2009 - Las Vegas, I'm so jealous! DH and I need to sit down and plan what we're going to do about holidays between now and September. My thinking is (while I can still fly) a golfing holiday abroad somewhere in the next couple of months, and then a lazy week in the UK somewhere about 6 weeks before the birth.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

I saw some familiar names on here and wanted to pop in and say HI!!!! Not sure if anyone remembers me, but I was on the July thread, so while I don't fit into the winter group, I definitely remember some of you from July!

Karen - I too could not wait to get back to exercising and was told by my RE at 8 weeks (which is when I was released from the clinic) that I could resume whatever I had been doing before. And I pretty much did, just a scaled-down version. :D

To those of you wondering when it will feel real, it'll happen gradually with each appointment. My DH would get SO annoyed with me because I would say that I finally accepted that this was happening and that everything would be fine at each appointment (which was every 4 weeks), and then a week later would start worrying all over again that something was going to happen. We are VERY fortunate to have an OB that does an u/s at every visit. I can definitely tell you that the day will come when your panic moments and worries will become few and far between, so hang in there!

Hi ladies --

I am a lurker  See so many friends here, had to out myself!

We got our BFP on 2/19 with beta at 267. 2nd beta blood test today, but I am electing not to hear any news of beta results. We had an awful, stressful time with our first pregnancy and the bad beta's...ended in m/c at 8.5 wks. This time I promised myself and my little baby (babies?) that I would fight to keep my emotional sanity and just not know about the beta results. DH is taking all the calls. He will let me know when they want me in for 1st ultrasound.

I think I am very different from all of you - I haven't really considered myself pregnant yet. I don't think I really will until after the first few u/s and we see the heartbeat. I feel bad about that, but it's all so tenuous so early. I really do feel like this is it and we are going to progress to a healthy pregnancy, but until a little later, I'm still in the waiting stage.

Hope I am not a downer on your fun! It's nice for me to see so many happy, blissful little mommies! Congrats to the twin mommies! I am sort of wondering if we might be in that category - only time will tell

Merri - welcome and congratulations on your BFP! I'm like you, I really can't think of myself as a pregnant woman most of the time, even though I'm now at the stage when I'm starting to show. It just seems too surreal after 4+ years of negative results and heartache. I'm betting most of us feel like that! I'm sure your DH will be told today that your second beta is just fine - make sure you let us know when your first u/s is!

Katie - GOOD LUCK for your early u/s tomorrow, and don't worry if all you see is a sac and not much else, it's still early days. Ooooh, I wonder whether there'll be one sac or two???

Ashley - Good luck to you too tomorrow.

dogzrule - of course I remember you from July! So happy to hear that you're having a smooth pregnancy. Not long to go now!

AFM, I almost hesitate to say this in case I'm tempting fate, but I think I've started to turn a corner with the morning sickness. I didn't feel too great last night (and so far tonight), but during the day yesterday and today it hasn't really kicked in too badly - I feel more unwell rather than actively sick. The evenings definitely seem to be worse at the moment than the days. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow (yippee!!) so hopefully things will really start improving from here.

Take care,
Hazel

P.S. We just got the call from the doctor who did my nuchal scan on Friday, and the blood test results have now come back. The baby is assessed as low risk for Downs Syndrome at 1 in 8000, so it's great news. Another hurdle passed!

hjw - you're past the big hurdles and your chances of a baby are just amazing! better than 97% or something like that! You'll start enjoying it soon... that little baby in your womb needs to soak up every bit of luv you've got!

merri - believe me, I know what you are talking about. I truly can't begin to really connect to this pregnancy. My numbers are not super high, but everything I research say they are normal, and 'adequate' and I just want them to skyrocket! LOL I'm getting another beta on Thursday. My average doubling time overall is just a tad over 40 hours. But I'm with you.. I know how hard this is and I'm just praying for a heartbeat on that ultrasound on March 9th.
