Anyone ever been in the mist of a storm with no direction or guidance? That's how I feel right about now. Today I called the clinic to ask more questions. It turns out that my fertility specialist has gone on materity leave and will be out until Jan. 25th. Her fill-in had no clue since there were no notes in my chart about me being on birth control and when I should stop bc or anything about my husband's test results coming in this week (to call us for the decision to be made). So I had to fill her in. DH brought me lunch and we almost got into an argument at work, debating on IVF versis IUI. He wants to go ahead and go full force into IVF while I'm thinking IUI to save us money. He likes to put so much stress on himself and thinks he needs to be out working two jobs to afford all of this. I tell him if we could just wait until June we would have the funds saved up for IVF. He thinks the IUI has less of a success rate, but if his test comes back good I'm thinking lets go for it. Tough Decision to make with no guarantees, maybe sometimes we have the throw the cards up in the air and take that chance....

Sunshine- I dont know to much on IUI, what are your RE's success rates vs IVF??? We cant really afford this round of IVF but i got a credit card with 0% interest for 12 months so I am going to have to charge part of it... Hoping this will be the last time we have to do it and then it will be all worth it :) Unfortunately my RE doesnt recommend IUI for us since my DH has bad everything so are only route is IVF with icsi... I am sure you and DH will make the best choice when it comes down to it :) Maybe you should go over both with your RE again and see what sounds like the more promising way :)

Thank you Kynlee for you post! :D Success rate for an IUI is 13% compared to IVF at 33%...Originally my RE didn't recommend it either since our report showed borderline for IUI. DH is still opposed to trying IUI, still thinks it's his fragmentation...We did try IVF with icsi last fall. Doctor recommended DH to take vitamin A and C to build stronger swimmers, so the anaylsis with our doctor will determine everything. Ironic that you mentioned the credit card, b/c seriously I was just talking to DH about my bank offering one for 0% interest for 6 months which is not as good one year (way to go :D ), but it would buy us some time. DH still talks about getting a second job... :( Besides missing him, who would give me my shots?

Late this afternoon, I called my clinic back to get the test results and they had received them but they hadn't been read. As I mentioned before my RE's assistant is out of the office until Jan 25th. Last week when I last spoke with her, she told me not to ask the "fill in" to interpret the test results. The "fill-in" told me today she would be giving me a call back on Friday morning after she gets with my RE (which is 3 hours away at the main clinic). They will be closed on Thursday and back in on Friday and I need to get the drugs ordered before the pharmacy closes at nooon for New Year's Eve. Friday will be a balancing act for sure, but look forward finding out which way were going! This new year is going to be starting off right! :D

Kynlee,
When is your sister's wedding? Planning our wedding was so much fun that I had it all planned out the night we got engaged. Seriously my whole notebook was covered. Guess by how I like to journalize that probably doesn't surprise anyone here. lol Michael's best friend is getting married Feb. 14th and would like for us to attend. The thing is it's 7.5 hrs away and we might be in the middle of IVF treatment. So not sure, if we BOTH will be coming. Michael might be in the wedding and half his family are good friend's with them, so there will probably be alot of people we know attending, but I might have to miss out. Will see when we find out the protocol which should be tomorrow!

Friday will be fun, but I'm going to ask Michael to do most of the legwork while I'm at work. We'll need to get those results back and find out what the doctor recommends. If it is IVF, we'll need to find out if we can still get it discounted? The last thing any of us like is unexpected large bills when they originally promised us something else. The pharmacy has to be called for meds by 12pm, since they close early for New Year's Eve. If they decide to do an IUI it will be in January, but IF we go for IVF we would be looking at transfer date around Valentine's Day. Clinic doesn't offer an IVF cycle in Jan. I tried to calculate my cycle, and figured I should be ovulating in the next two days. I know it sounds crazy but I've heard that birth control isn't effective while taking cold medicine. Just a thought, but it's something that has crossed my mind. All I know is all of this fertility treatment and "trying almost anything" can make you think crazy in general!

Tomorrow night should be whether interesting... Neighbors next door want us to join them for a New Year's Eve party. Told them I will be working all day, and wouldn't have much time to cook but promise to bring home a case of beer. lol maybe some of that blueberry lemonade too. Who knows how this year will end, but we are going to make a toast...To many changes together and I hope you and my IVF sisters will join me! :D

Sunshine - My sisters wedding is Jan 29th, If I was nervous about OHSS I would have started Jan right away, but if I get bloated my family would be thinking something and the meds make me a little emotional so I thought best to wait :) Me and DH are hanging in tomorrow getting pizza beer wine and some movies... :) I will have a toast for us Girls tomorrow :) New beginnings for the upcoming year...2011 will be a happy year for all of us :)

Soooo we got the results back today :-) Doctor surprisely said DH's sperm anaylsis came back normal! So the vitamin regimen he has been on since August has made an impact! Looks like we will be trying an IUI this month around the 3rd week. However with my specialist's assistant being out, this may be challenging...they would need me to come in in the morning for ultrasound and then come back sometime around 2:30-4 for bloodwork, making two trips back and forth from work in one day several times in a week. Sounds like a bit much since I have a boss that is not very flexible as I mentioned before, but I will have to figure out how I can make this work. For now, I must finish my appetizer and get ready for my neighbor's new year's party. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunshine- What Vitamin regimen is your DH on???? I know what you mean by your boss not being flexible that is why I am trying to figure my schedule out for Jan/Feb so I can see what works best for vacation time for er & et... I cant take the 1st ten days of any month off so I need the nurse to figure both months out so I can go with the better schedule, sucks but thats life and I need my job so I can have benefits.... Glad you talked to your Re and know when you will be starting, hopefully I will know by next week :) Happy New Year :)

Kynlee,
DH vitamin regimen is very simple...he takes the CVS brand of vitamin E and C 100IU usually before he goes to sleep. Doctor did say it would take several months before we would see any results b/c sperm takes a while to rebuild itself, I just didn't think a $7 remedy would work so we both were surprise, if anything it lifted dh's spirits a little. I know you mentioned your dh was taking some vitamins with pumpkin seed, has he thought about the S/A re-testing?

I probably spent half of my morning trying to figure out a way to make this work with my boss too. It about drives dh crazy with me over-analyzing everything I know, and he wonders why I come to this forum? I need to keep this job for insurance purposes too, but sometimes I wish I could quit so we could put 100% into this! However, I feel Jan. would be an easier month since my clinic isn't scheduling any IVF cycles this month. Usually I spend half of my lunch break in the waiting room, and learned that it's best to make the most of it, and have lunch there while I wait. Wish they could see me before work, but not an option with them. Plus, not sure why the u/s couldn't be done in the afternoon with the bloodwork at the same time? I know my boss wouldn't approve of me leaving work twice a day to run to the clinic. Another solution I'm thinking about is finding out if LabQuest could do the bloodwork at 7:15 in the morning and then I could arrange to have just the u/s done over my lunch hour??? Going through LabQuest would put me at a higher bill, but the convenience might be worth it.

DH told me if we decide to wait till February, my RE's assistant would be back from materity leave and everything might be a little less hectic there plus I could give my boss more notice. Guess it's only best to hold off and see how all of this plays out on Monday. I just know next week is going to be very busy at the branch with new accounts being opened and lots of conference calls with new goals. However we need to find a healthy balance with work and doing whatever it takes to start a family! It's our dream, our goal and we are going to make it happen no matter what! :D 2011, this is OUR YEAR!

Sunshine- Yes my DH is on some vitamins now, but wanted to see if you DH was maybe on something else... ;) Hopefully by Feb my DH will have better swimmers :) We do have Dreams so to get to them we have to make minor adjustments work should understand :) I never call out I always stay late for them when needed so they should be assisting to me to some times right ? lol My Clinic does BW starting at 6:30 and US I think start around 7 so its usually not a issue for me whats the issue is taking time off for ER and ET when it lands on the 1st- the 10th... but I will figure it out cause I want this so bad and I cant wait cause I aint getting any younger :)

Kylnee, I know what you mean our biological clocks are ticking away. The office should assist us with our needs, since it should be a work/family balance environment. I wish we could work together on this, and know only a stragedy will make things work! Timing is everything, glad you have a clinic with flexible hours! :D Hopefully though at work you can put in some vacation time around the cycle and make the timing work for you.

Tonight as we walked the labradors, DH told me he's calling our RE Monday to find out more details about his sperm analysis results. He is still leaning on IVF, while I'm set on doing the IUI as we had already scheduled to be around January18th.
DH thinks that even though the nurse told him the good news (and we got the meds faxed to my pharmacy on Friday), that we should still need to talk with our RE to find out more about his plans with us.

I mentioned before that his assistant said for an IUI the success rate is just 13%, but with this mind at 2500.00 we could afford several attempts with an IUI even if the 1st one didn't work. However, DH is more of the analytical thinker, says we now have other weighing factors/ options to choose from. He's thinking if the success rate is higher and our doctor is willing to discount the procedure to 7500.00 we might want to stay with IVF. I'm thinking why make this more complicated and clean out our bank account? RIght now we can afford an IUI, whereas late June we would have enough saved up for an IVF if necessary. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to compromise together on our next step.

How was your New Year's Eve? Overall it's been a crazy weekend here. New Year's Eve with the neighbors till 1:30 and didn't fall asleep until 2am. Felt like crap the next day, but made love anyway. Tried to get most of the Christmas decorations in the attic but had no energy. Sunday we skipped Sunday school, tend to feel like it's becoming somewhat "clickish" with them and often feel worst when I walk out of there, either mad or upset (taking it out on sweet dh) about a comment someone in class might of said such as Scott blurting out, "Everyone I have an announcement to make...Nancy is knocked up" and the whole class dying in laughter while we're in a shock like how could you do that to your wife? One day he referred to reading the daily scripture to baby food, how simple it must be. I'm like you idiot! So we've gotten where we just attend the worship service and we both agree we get more out of it, without the crazy ridiculous comments.

At this very moment wishing I wasn't on birth control, keep thinking I'm throwing a cycle "of time" away. Felt like I was ovulating last Thursday, had all the symptoms that I was but could do nothing about it. Birth Control makes me feel tired and sluggish like it takes every ounce of energy to get me out of bed in the mornings. Even called my boss one day last week telling him I wasn't feeling well, running late, but still coming in. I'm like you never missing a day of work.

On the flipside of things, It's funny that since DH got the "good news" on his S/A report, maybe it's psychological but he has been all crazy and in the mood...3x in one day! Told him the doors are now closed and I'm needing alot cranberry juice tonight. lol. TTYL
