Hi Sarah

I succumbed to my first baby purchase today whilst Xmas shopping. I bought this gorgeous baby doll. I just couldn't resist it. It is adorable. Not exactly practical. A bit of an impulse buy. The dolls pretty neutral, not all girly and pink, so I'd be happy with a girl or boy playing with it. Although if I have a baby boy and he wants to play with pink

Congrats on your down's results. What a fantastic number. :D Are you a Young Spring chicken. :)

I might have to have a wee search for something cute to give DH from 'Mork'. Yes an unfortunate nickname I know.

I'm trying not to buy any clothes yet as I have a friend in Aus who has been saving all her baby clothes for me. She has tons of them so once I get them I'll check out what bubby still needs. She's also sending me some preggie clothes too. It'll be Winter in NZ in June so I'll need lots of snuggly stuff. We've got some great merino baby clothes here.

You're very patient hanging out for the surprise. I'm a 'I want everything and I need it now' kind of a person!

I too have been honking about how these next few months are going to be the last few months that we have as a babyless couple. Our lives are going to change dramatically from June onwards!

Deidraj - how are you doing? I hope your nausea has settled down a bit. You must be getting excited about finding out the sex of your wee bump soon. I know that i am.

Hello ladies! Glad to hear that your results went well! My DH and I decided against testing. I'm only 25, so my result for Downs is pretty low already, and I didn't want an amniocentesis done since there is a small risk of miscarriage (this is our 1 chance of pregnancy so I don't want anything to go wrong). When we talked about it, my DH and I decided that we are going to love this baby and keep it, no matter what, so if there is anything "wrong" we will just deal with it when that time comes.

The nausea is getting better. If I do get nauseous it's usually only once a day, today it was this evening. I didn't have any yesterday (I like those days!). I've had a couple parents comment on my bump. It seems to have popped up overnight. The teacher in the room with me (who's having a C-Section next Wednesday to deliver her 2nd child) gave me two trash bags full of maternity clothes. I'm at the awkward stage where my clothes don't really fit but maternity clothes are still kind of big.

As much as I want this baby, mentally I'm struggling with the "getting fat" part. I was overweight and used diet and exercise to lose 68 pounds before we did in-vitro. I wanted to be healthy for the pregnancy. After losing that much weight, it's hard to think that I'm going to be "big" again. The comments from parents about my belly kind of upset me. I know they aren't doing it to be mean, but I just haven't come to terms with the fact that I will be big yet. I'm pretty sure once I can feel the baby move though, I will be ok. It won't just be me "getting fat" it will instead be the baby growing which I will definitely know is in there when I can feel it. Sometimes it still doesn't feel real. I will feel so much better when I can feel him or her move!

Hello ladies

Deidra, glad to hear your nausea sounds like it may be passing, i can’t imagine what it's like to feel sick throughout the pregnancy!! My friend had it for the whole pregnancy...not nice!!!
Well done on all your weight loss, i am sure you won’t put it back on and you will just have a lovely baby bump :) i have a girl in the office calling me fatty!!! But i think she is just jealous as my belly will be smaller than hers when i am 9mth pregnant hehehe!! i am only a size 8-10! Just remember, we are not eating for 2, I am just eating little and often.

I had my midwife app yesterday for my 15-16wk check up, i got to hear the baby’s heartbeat  ahhhh how amazing, i recorded it on my phone as my hubby is out of the country, so i keep listening back to it. My friends have said if it sounds like a train its a boy, and if it sounds like a horse it's a girl...... not quite sure how the horse is supposed to sound, nay nay or clip clop clip clop hehehe god knows, they are all old wives tales anyway :)

Tess i am 31 years young :P i have been waiting for this baby for nearly 4yrs!!! what a lovely xmas pressie :D

anyway, all have a lovely weekend, i am off home now.....HORRAH another week of work finished and a week closer to maternity leave

Hi there

Deidraj - yay for the nausea starting to pass.

I can understand your reasoning for not wanting testing done.

This stage of pregnancy feels so awkward because you don't necessarily look pregnant. Clothes start to get snug, or you outgrow them altogether. I think as long as you eat sensibly you'll be fine and won't put on the weight that you lost. Breastfeeding apparently helps to maintain your weight too.

Sarah - how cool to hear the heartbeat. I have my first midwife appt on the 23rd so hopefully I'll get a chance to hear the heartbeat for the first time. You're 31. Wow, that Down's ratio is fantastic. I don't think you're classed as a 'geriatric' mum yet are you. It's such a delightful term.

My friend is sending me some maternity clothes next week. Yay! I only have one pair of jeans that I can fit at the moment and they're starting to look pretty scruffy.

Anyway ladies, I'll probably catch up with you again before Xmas. If not, have a fantastic Xmas break.

Hello all,
Well, after 2 weeks I finally got the courage to get on the scale. It seems my waistline is growing, but my weight has not changed since my last Dr's appointment (yay!). That made me feel a lot better!

Tess, I hope you hear the heartbeat soon, it's amazing! I heard it at the first appointment with the OB. I can't wait to hear it again, we go back the 28th.

Sarah, I never thought about recording the heartbeat on my phone, what a great idea! I will have to remember that next time.

Last night my husband and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been that long! This was the last year of it just being the two of us and it was nice to spend time together. Well, the Christmas season officially starts for us tonight. I have Christmas with my mom's husband's mom's family tonight. Unfortunately, my husband can't be there. He coaches 7th & 8th grade girls basketball and it is their Christmas party tonight, too (which they've had planned for weeks). I just learned of my plans last night. Hoping you all have a wonderful holiday season if I don't talk to you before then!

Hi all. Just wanted to check in. We had a great Christmas here, although Thursday I had the stomach flu! My husband is getting it now. I feel awful for him but I know there's nothing I can really do. I couldn't even keep water down when I had it, but luckily the puking only lasted 12 hours. I go Tuesday to see my OB again. I'm pretty sure this is when we will schedule the ultrasound to find out what our baby is! I can't wait!

My pregnant cousin that I found out about at Thanksgiving was at Christmas. She just kept talking about how she hasn't gained any weight and isn't showing, all while I was wearing maternity clothes (and I'm 15 days behind her). She had mentioned that the day before she only ate a bowl of cereal for the whole day because she wasn't hungry and that she only eats if she's hungry. I wanted to strangle her. But, I have to remind myself that my baby is growing up with two loving parents & that it will be healthy because while I'm not eating for 2 (as many say) I know I do have to eat to nourish my child.

Hope you are doing well!

Hi everybody

DH and I unfortunately received some devastating news this week.

We went for the routine anatomy scan on Monday. The technician who did the scan wasn't very communicative but didn't indicate that there were any problems. Later that day, I received a call from my Obs who said that there had been at least three abnormalities noted. I was referred to the consultant obs at the hospital and rescanned the next day. Unfortunately we found out that baby has unsurvivable abnormalities i.e. Grossly enlarged polycystic kidneys, hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), and undeveloped lungs due to a lack of amniotic fluid.

As you can imagine, DH and I are absolutely gutted. At the moment, I really don't know feel that I'll ever get over it. We were so happy at the prospect of finally being Mum and Dad.

I'll deliver the baby on Monday and an autopsy will be done. The results of the autopsy will determine whether or not we ride the IVF roller coaster again.

Anyway folks, I'll be keeping any eye on everybody's progress, and wish you all the very very best in your pregnancies.

Note: I'll also post this MSG on the summer babies board where many of my fall cycle IVF buddies are.

Hi there,
Would like to join your group, deidraj might remember me from our September cycle.
I am expecting twins after ivf, so my belly also popped up over night, feels very weird, with a big belly but can’t feel them move yet!
I hope all is well with every one! So sorry to hear about Tess’s sad news even though I did not know her!

Hi everybody

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm doing fine and I can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. Even though, I'm still incredibly sad about what happened, I have a lot more up days than down days now, and am starting to look forward into the future.

DH and I have had incredible support from friends, family, colleagues, the hospital, the fertility clinic and of course the amazing ladies on these boards. I

As you can imagine, I was dreading the day of the delivery but it turned out to be a really special day. DH and I got to spend a couple of hours with our baby boy and took lots of photos. We've since put together a lovely album to remember him by.

So onward and upward. We'll await post mortem results and then decide where to go from here. We're both keen to continue along the IVF route if possible.

Great to hear some of you ladies are feeling movement. I was lucky enough to feel our little baby boy move for about a week and a half prior to delivery. Because there was a lack of amniotic fluid, the movement was quite pronounced. It is an unreal feeling - kind of like gas moving around in your tummy but a bit lower down and soooo much more special!

Anyway ladies, I'll be keeping an eye on you all and wishing you all the very best.
