Why the 10 pound weight restriction?

Postby tortillachip » Thu Jul 12, 2012 10:31 pm

Does anyone know why we can't carry more than 10 pounds during the first trimester?

Ya know most Dr. mention this but in reality.. it just isn't going to happen. I think they say that so you don't strain yourself an try to pick up more then you should.. I seriously don't think there is a study out there comparing implantation rates with the restriction and not the restriction. Just think of all the regular preggo people out there that have no clue about a 10lb rule. As for as IVF, they might say no more then 10lbs because ovaries are big from all the stim meds and can easily twist. for me i will not be able to go by the 10 lb rule with carrying around my 25lb 8 mo old.

Wondercat - Yep, Jake is an awesome eater. He is in the 99 percentile on height and weight. His dad is 6'6 so im sure Jake is gonna be pretty tall.

I couldn't get back into my old screen name, but I do want to share what my RE told me. I am currently 9w 5d pregnant with one baby from a single embryo FET transfer. I have a 24 lb 21 month old and I asked about that rule. My RE said to go home after transfer (2 pm) and stay in bed that night and then get up and go about my business. He said it truly does not matter after that first day. I trust him and followed his direction and I'm pregnant. My little girl is spoiled rotten and I was and still am constantly pick her up just to hold her, in and out of the tub, high chair, SUV into her car seat, crib, etc. I wish you the best!
