Donner egg dilemma

Postby KattyH » Sat Jul 29, 2017 8:01 pm

The roller coaster of failed TTC and the futile visit to the fertility clinic was already too much for me to take. RE suggested ICSI+IVF after two IVF cycle failures, none of them worked for me. The only option left is donor eggs now and am too reluctant about it. At 38 time feels like slipping by and am left with no other choice if I want to have babies. The fact that the child won't bear anything from my genes is very frustrating at times. When I try to calm myself about it I get torn up between the thought that what difference it makes if I adopt instead. Did anyone had the same donor eggs dilemma? What did you choose donor eggs or adoption? If you're already having a baby with donor eggs, could you please tell me your experiences?

I really want to drive away the thought of sharing same genes and all but seems like the more I ponder over it the more upset I get. It's taking its toll in my work life as well as affecting our peace of mind as a couple.

You are not alone. Those are the classic dilemmas of choosing to use an egg or sperm donor.

38 is a little young to need a donor. You might want a second opinion on that. Did you have any embryos to transfer?

Sorry! I didn't log in for a long time as me and my SO had the opinion that we need to unwind all the odd feelings a bit. So, we took a mini vacation and thereafter tried to take a break from the TTC for a couple of months to get back to our normal self and decide with a clear head about what we really want. To or not to go for donor eggs as I was really all shaken up by the fact that my own eggs are no good.

No, I don't have a frosty for FET. The last round was a total disaster with no good embie to transfer. :( We've quite made our mind for DE just exploring the options in details. Also, I'll have to pay for any further treatment all by myself. So yeah now the affordable DE+IVF is an issue as well. I'll appreciate any information or knowledge, do and don't about DE+IVF, so feel free to suggest. :)
