Is there anything else we can do?

Hi. I'm 32 and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for 5 years. I have endometriosis, and had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy two years ago. My gynaecologist reassured me that my tubes are clear and that all the tissue had been removed, but we still haven't had any success. My husband has a very haigh sperm count, but a slightly high level of immobility. We have changed our lifestyles, and i have tried acupuncture to no avail. Our specialist has suggested ICSI as an option - one we might have to take. Is there anything else i can do to enhance our chances of natural conception, for instance i have read about a product call 'Fertility Blend', does anyone know about it and does it help, or is it just a waste of money?

Hi Liz ... Welcome .... ! You'll have a better response to your question if you post on the General Forum, where most folk tend to log onto. I haven't heard of Fertility Blend, but no doubt someone there will have.

Zita West's book - "Fertility & Conception" is a wealth of information re preparing for conception - from essential nutrients, improving cervical secretions, acupuncture, hormonal imbalances, improving sperm quality etc etc ... and a full chapter on assisted conception. It's well worth the £15. You'd have to be an Angel to follow it all through, but anything you can do should help to improve your chances - and give you a better understanding of what's going on in your bodies.

Hi Liz, sounds like a good idea to read the book. I too am going to order it this week, it is always worth listening to new information. On a positive note a close friend of mine who has had severe endi since she was sixteen and who is now 33 yrs has just given birth to a baby boy. She had tried a drug called clomid to stimulate ovaries on several different occasions but although her tubes were both clear could still not concieve. Though, with her husband he had an erratic sperm count which would be good one time and then not so good. Unfortunately for other reasons she divorced and met someone else a little while later. During this time her endi was really bad and she ended up being on the pill for 18 months when i think it is only supposed to be 6 months, she did not want anymore surgery either. Then, after coming off the pill 2 months later she was pregnant.... she was in shock right until the baby was born, she really believed it could not happen. Please do not give up, your tubes are good, just get some advice and go for it. Love Jjj x

Hi Liz,

Have you heard of Foresight? they help couples with fertility problems, by Hair anyalsis, they then look at what you are lacking and prepare vitimins and a diet to follow, the diet is pretty much organic, so the fact that you have changed your diet is a good thing but I think is worth having a look and reading the Success Stories I have sent hair samples from myself an my partner, he does not have any probs but I have unexplained secondary infertility! (I have 1 DD using clomid!!!!!

Hi,
You sound very much like me!!! I don't have endio. though. I had damaged tubes so had a few operations to cut away the scarred tissues inside. I was told the tubes were clear and we should be ok.

However, that was about 5 years ago. I don't know much about icsi??? We have been trying IVF as that way the tubes are avoided ( I also have a blocked cervix so have to have transyometrial method - where they inject through the lining of the womb rather than the cervix - ouchhhh).

My advice would be to push things along with your doctor. I am also 32 ( in a week) and have been trying for nearly 6 years now - it can be a long process! I know many people can afford to go private and don't have the waiting we had, but it is worth pushing the issue - if you fall naturally while you are waiting then fantastic, but at least you will be on a waiting list in the mean time.

Good note though - friend of mine had severe endo. and she fell naturally x
