Hi,my name is Julie, I've just discovered this site on Tuesday at the Fertility Clinic in Manchester in their copy of Issue.
We have been trying to conceive for five years, discovered infertily problem about 2.5 years ago, we knew there was a problem, but we were to scared to face up to facts.
We've had one IUI,unsuccesful and one abandoned attempt due to too many eggs produced, last attempt in september was converted to IVF,
five eggs collected four fertilised , two transferred , but again unsuccesful.
We have got to find the strength and funds for another go next year, but finding it stressful.
Any tips ao surviving the two week wait? I was like a mad woman on the knicker watch last time.
About to become an aunty yet again in 3 weeks time. How do we cope with that? bye now julie

Hi Julie M,

(there are a fair few 'Julie's on the site at the moment, so could get a bit confusing)

Welcome to the site - is that MFS or Manchester Care at Victoria Park? I'm at MFS and had e/c (egg collection) yesterday so I'm currently bitting my nails until I hear how many have fertilised after ICSI - only another hour and half to go!!!!.

The 2ww is definitely the worst - and all I can suggest is making sure your dh (hubby) pampers you lots and to relax as much as possible. One tip I learnt from someone on here was to make sure your extremities don't get cold - and since I work in an 'over-working' air conditioned office, have purchased a pair of fingerless gloves!

As for the aunty bit, well you can take solice in knowing you're not alone - my eldest nephew looks more like me than he does his mum or dad (mainly to do with the similar ginger hair!) but the love I have for him (and the other 4) outweighs the hurt - just. And I still have hope I'll have my own child eventually.

As for non-family kids, I try to avoid them like the plague.

Good Luck for when you start again.

Fiona

ICSI#3 (CARE) +ve boy (Xander) EDD 21/03/04 - so excited!!!!!!

Hi Fiona,
Thanks for your reply, I was pleased to hear you read my message, it helps to know that there are people out there who care and can relate to all this business.
I hope everything went ok with the egg collection, how many did you have ?
I hope you had a good result with the fertilisation , let me know the outcome.
I'm also with MFS, but I wasn't sure until you replied if you could mention specific clinics my name.
Hope they are looking after you ok.
Fingers crossed.

Bye for now, Julie M.

Hi Julie

Hi Julie M
I am a virgin to this this as well, only jsut purchased computer and found website straight away.
Anyway - I am currently on my 1st attempt on IVF have gone through the nasal sprays and am now onto my 2nd days of injections, both legs hurt where I have had the injections, but hopefully it may be worth it in the end.
You say that an attempt was cancelled due to too many eggs, was this on the IUI or IVF as I have been informed that due to my blood type I am likely to produce lots of eggs and will no doubt have lots of side-effects due to this. I hope they do not cancel my 1st attempt as I will loose all faith.
I know what you mean when you talk about other kids, somethimes I find if friends bring their babies into work I cannot bring myself to look at them as I get to upset!!!! I then start to feel guilty cause I have not shown any interest in their babies, but people like ourselves (SPECIAL PEOPLE you could say) only know how we feel inside

Hi Fiona
GOOD LUCK NO DOUBT YOU WOULD HAVE HAD YOUR EGGS TRANSFERRED BACK IN BY NOW, I hope the next 2 weeks fly by and you get good news very soon.

LOVE DEBS x

Hi Julie,
You are in good company here girl!

Im currently sniffing and I have a blood test for Monday to determine whether its time for injecting....this is our first IVF and we are having ICSI, I have had 5 IUI's 3 on clomiphene and 2 on metrodin so Im an old hand at the drug thing!!
My sister is expecting her 2nd baby the week between xmas and the new year, and is so blase about it, she is only 22 and yet she talks to me (Im 31) as if Im an idiot (!) about what its like to have a child and be pregnant...my parents often say they don't understand why I feel the need to put myself through this with the expense and all the stress, who wants kids anyway...go have a life, well Ive had one thanx, now I'd like the chance to settle down and have a family.

Its tough but if you have the strength dont give up, my clinic had 4 pregnancies last week, which made me feel a bit more positive...it could be us lot next!!!
As for the 2ww I am not looking forward to it, but dh has said I can scream, sob and shout at him as much as I want as long as I give him a cuddle after!!
Take care of yourself Julie, and best of luck to Debs Im right behind you girl!

Helen xxxx

Deborah,
You asked about my cancelled treatment, it was IUI and not IVF, 9 eggs produced so too many to continue, that was on low dosage 75 of fostimon.

Hope everything goes ok, here hoping for lots of eggs of good quality, one lady i read about on this site produced something like 42 !

Does your boss and collegues from work know you are having treatment ? mine does now, they also had a problem almost 30 years ago, adopted 2 and then after giving up on natural family managed to conceive !

hope everyone is being supportive during this stressful time.

good luck
bye now
Julie M
Hi everyone! I am needing to express how I'm feeling right now as I can't keep worrying my family. I have been trying for a baby for 18 months, have the most regular, but extremely painful periods yet apparently I am not producing an egg every month. I was comlpetely baffled by hearing this but started taking clomiphene (50mg). It's now been nearly 6 months and still nothing. I feel so fed up and confused as to why I don't work properly!! My husband has 2 kids already and is a fair bit older than myself, but at first he was tested and it showed it was him who had the fertility problem. But now they say it's me as his last test came back ok. So as soon as they saw it was me they said I had to have IVF, then they said I had to try the clomiphene tablets.
Can anyone tell me if doctors push you for IVF even if you don't really need to take such drastic actions. I saw a piece on TV (This morning with Robert Winstone) and he claimed they do I think and that there aren't enough tests being done b4 IVF?? It was said that every woman should have a womb xray first, as if the womb is no good then it's pointless to do IVF.
Also goodluck to everyone waiting for the results! If I have to do it (I'm sure I will) it must be so frustrating to wait 2 weeks!
Thankyou if you read this it's made me feel slightly better!
