Anyone dying for a drink?

Postby Nel » Thu Oct 17, 2002 12:10 pm

Hi everyone
Not that I'm a complete piss-head or anything, but do any of you find it hard cutting down on the old vino in the name of getting pregnant? I've had two failed IVF attempts (although one was using frozen embryos), and this time round I'm going to try and cut out drinking completely, or at least, limit myself to a couple of glasses of wine a week. Do any of you think that it makes much of a difference? Obviously you shouldn't drink in excess, but the occassional tipple always helps me to de-stress from it all.
Your thoughts would be appreciated
Nel

Hi Nel
It's been a Nightmare!! When I was down regging, I was treating myself to a couple of glasses of Red wine a week (supposed to be good for your circulation) but since I've started stimming I've gone cold turkey just in case.
If you like beer, then Becks Alcohol free or another one they do in Sainsbury's (German one in a bottle,0 alcohol) are quite good substitutes and at least if you're out with friends you can feel like you're joining in. DH has switched to them too and you can now get alcohol free in most pubs. We keep a fridgefull and still feel like we are having a beer after a day at work....how sad can you get !! :-(
If you've ever tried the alcohol free wine...YUK!! I'd rather stick to water.
Here's to a big P!%$-up for all of us in 9 months (fingers crossed)
LOL
Terri
xx

Thank goodness I'm not alone! First time ICSI and I've been tee-total for 8 days since I start down-reg - I am climbing the walls luv!

If I see one more bottle of Kaliber I'll scream...

Hubby is trying his best and he has cut down but I don't think he can give up completely. I know we say it will be worth it in the end if it works and if it does work, you've got another 9 months to go!

here's to us all dreaming of beer, I raise my sparkling water to us!

luv

Bibby
Thanks guys - that makes me feel much better. It's the end of the day and I've just poured myself an ice cold glass of Evian. That'll help me wind down.
Nel x
PS Terri - great idea about the non alc. beer.

I thought I was the only one!! I have always enjoyed 2 or so glasses of vino every other night or so ...just to keep me sane!
The clinic told me it is fine to drink in down reg in moderation but to be careful near e/c and after !!
I must say though that I have been cold turkey for 8 days now (tried to have a drink but the thought makes me feel quite ill! Must be a side effect they don't tell you about Buserlin.)

I'm off now to relax with a nice cold...glass of milk!

Happy drinking

Becky B
