Started down reg (Burselin injections) yesterday.

Firstly i was surprised to be told to inject in my abdomen (always thought it was legs/backside!). Secondly I was surprised to find how uncomfortable DH's injection technique is! The first one wasn't so bad but goodness knows what he did wrong on the second one - as he was injecting my abdomen, I got a pain in my lower back!!

I don't mean to scare anyway, it's just a bit uncomfortable and I was wondering if I'm better off doing my own injections?

Any advice anyone?

Bibby

Hi Bibby and any other newies..

I started my first injection on Friday ...but I think that the needle was a little blunt as we had trouble drawing back the right amount of liquid and so had to keep inserting the needle into the vial...so very sore injection and red mark on my belly, head ache and twitching goings on all night in my tummy!! Day 2 was fine - no pain at all (I think dh has relaxed a little now) and so no mark and no twitchings...still got a headache though...now just about to have day 3 ...so who knows how that will go.

Is this your first time at ICSI/IVF? I guess that you will be going in for your ec and et around the 4th November??

Hi all.
I've been injecting Buserelin over the past 8 weeks so totally understand where you're coming from. Don't panic, apparently I'm very rare as my system wasn't absorbing the drug properly but it's finally worked so now I'm onto yet another injection. My clinic has given me the injection "gun" which really helps, in fact I'm not sure I would be brave enough without it. If your not using that maybe you could ask for one. I find it's also better to do it yourself because it's a bit like plucking your eyebrows, it twinges a bit if you do it yourself but hurts like hell when someone else does it !! I think it's the surprise element. If your DH want's to be involved, ask him to have a cup of tea waiting for you when you've done.
My GP also told me to rub the spot really well after you've injected to get the stuff moving around in your system straight away.
Not much help but just to let you know that you're not alone
Good Luck
Terri
x
Where are you up to? The board is so busy these days I can't keep up

love

bibby

Hi everyone,

Never been part of a chat line, or done IVF before. Now find myself learning about both. Had an ectopic preg in March, operated under emergency . Terrible shock as it was my first, much wanted pregnancy. Now know that my tubes are no good and hence on to IVF.
Am on day 10 of down reg , and am going to start with the stim injections on Monday .. Is this as bad as one fears or is the anticipation worse than the reality ? I am trying to give myself strength with the thought that these jabs are a minute fraction of time in what we are trying to acheive ... Any advice on this would be really welcome.

Susi
The thought IS really worse than the deed. It's over in the blink of an eye. By the time you've done one or two you'll be so blase and doing them in your sleep !!
Good Luck
Terri
xx

Terri,

Did the 1st injection this am and have survived ! Was shaking so much that I expect bruises tomorrow ; -) Tomorrow will be better no doubt. Encourage myself with the thought that this is the 'beginning' and that in a month from now we will know if we were successful ....and thats something to look forward to !!

Susi
Like tshepher says the injection is over in the blink of an eye, but remember to use alternative legs and in a slightly different spot each day so to reduce any soreness
GOOD LUCK and keep us posted
Love Debsx

Susi
Excellent news !! Debs, too right, variety is the spice of life.
Also I've found that doing the injections in the tummy actually hurts LESS than in the leg. Again the thought of it is much worse than actually doing it !!
Happy stabbing
Terri
xx
