Hello All,
I'm still feeling awful - and still waiting for af to start properly. Dh was really down when I told him the news. He said all of the right things but nothings helps really. I know that there is still a chance that things will be ok - but it's not really likely. I'm just waiting (impatiently) for tomorrow now and am expecting a -ive from the blood test. I REALLY hate going for that blood test when I know the outcome. I'm not sure if I want to do this again, but dh seems keen. I guess we'll talk it over during the next couple of days.

Debra - hope your move went ok. This time we move I'm going to pay someone to do most of the work. When we moved last time I vowed never to do it all myself again and I'm sticking to that.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Love
Debbie

Debbie - I'm so sorry for you and you're right, people can say the 'right' things but it doesn't really help.

Those who've been through it send their love & thoughts.

I did something I was not supposed to do, I was suppose to test on Sunday....

I tested, and it was a +.

I showed my husband....
he does not want to cheer yet.
Nor do I.

I called the hospital and they confirmed that the pregnyl is already out of my system and that this most likely a real +.
But they are careful and so am I.

(with second IVF I also tested + but got my period a week later)

nervwrecking.

but it is my own fault...

EC = eggcollection?

yes, I had eggcollection on the 2nd of March and eggtransfer on Sunday the 6th.

I do not want to be happy yet, stupid ha?
first I want to see a positive test on Sunday... then call the hospital on Monday and make appointment for a scan... see the heart with 7 weeks ... get pregnant 3 months and then finally I think I will start to slowly believe it...
still a long way to go...

I am scared....

Debbie, Jude...how are you doing sweeties?
Alette - keeping fingers crossed and pressing my thumbs for you, hold on in there...

When we were at the Uni clinic on Tuesday in the waiting room there were all couples who looked so young, poor things. Made me feel like a right old crock

Asked the doctor why egg donation is illegal in Germany - he said that the clinic are campaigning hard to change that. What I didn't know is that sperm donation is legal here

eeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr someone explain that to me please???????????

Debbie - so sorry to hear your news.

Allette - hope this is the real thing - keeping everything crossed for you.

My wonderful donor produced eleven eggs today. DH made his contribution and we find out tomorrow how many are viable. ET for me on Friday.

I am embarrassed to say I think I am a bit of a snob - thought Kiev hospital would not be upto European standards - I was completely wrong. Clinic beautiful, new (only built a year ago), and clean, everything gleaming, all staff in scrubs, no dingy uniforms over street clothes like the NHS. Constant army of cleaners in motion in areas that already look spotless to me. Equipment more upto date than I've seen in UK hospitals too - colour ultrasounds standard, and scans carried out by doctors, not just technicians. Of course, this is a top private hospital here - not the sort of thing most local people can afford. Now I know why so many Americans and Canadians come here for DE IVF!

Will let you know how everything turns out.

Hi Joy

well done donor angel!!! keepting all crossed for your embies....

we are doing DE/iVF in Barcelona so I am following your story avidly. Good to hear good reports of Kiev, we chose our clinic through recommendations I found in various fertlity sites and conferences, how did you choose yours???

Love to you

Hi BigJ,

We decided on Kiev on the same basis - found lots of good reports on message boards, spoke on the telephone with a couple of UK women who had tried it and got pregnant, and even met up with one (who is expecting trips now!). Also exchanged e-mails with quite a few American and Canadian women who had success there too. Of course, it is a small, unrepresentative group, but nearly all these women had tried cycles elsewhere, and failed.

The price was a big factor too - they offer DE IVF (including ICIS) for 3,500 Euros. Timing was also important - they have no waiting list for DE, everything can be set up very quickly.

From what I can work out I think success in Kiev is based on three factors. Firstly, they are not as heavily regulated as the UK and the rest of Europe - they routinely put back 4 or 5 embies (yes, this is risky, they have a high rate of multiples). Secondly, their donors are all in their 20s, and thirdly, all their donors are proven, i.e. they must have at least one normal, healthy child of their own. Women who have not had a child can not become donors.

Is this the same in Barcelona?

Hope everything goes well for you.

Hello All,
Keeping my fingers crossed for those of you about to have ET. Just the 2ww to get through now!!!

I've had my -ive confirmed now. Feeling really down about it but not as bad as I did when af began (had time to get used to it I guess). Af is still really light so I'm not sure what is happening there. We've got our followup appointment booked for 25th April - seems ages away but I guess with Easter in the way it's not too bad.

Hope everything goes ok with those of you in the middle of things.

Love

Hi Joy,

Would you be able to pass on the name of the clinic - or link? Also, how long have you spent in Kiev, how many times have you been over?

We have just been thru our third failed ICSI attempt, and am currently at the reviewing stage and would love more information on this.

Prior to making any decisions we are undergoing further testing which will take 6-8 weeks (immune, genetic), and I am also going to see a chinese doctor that specialises in immunology and fertility, but feel like we need to arm ourselves with everything at this stage.

Short history, I am 39, and a year and a half ago concieved naturally, but miscarried at 71/2 weeks. We are officially classified as 'unexplained', which is totally frustrating. We have been thru 3 IVF/ICSI attempts and have had good egg quantity and fertilisation rates - 22 mature eggs, 20 fertilised. We do 5 day transfers, and have had blastocysts everytime (last blastocyst was only hours away from hatching apparently). We haven't ever had any embryos to freeze, but the doctor said that is common with ICSI, and the fact that they won't freeze anything that doesn't make blastocyst. Nevertheless, he says it's looking like we haven't got good enough 'energy' in our embryos.

So, at this stage I'm taking the earliest appointments I can get to see everyone and try and reach some decisions.

So any help would be fantastic.

Cheers,
Tracy

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Alette.

Jools - We're doing ok, trying to organise the next lot of treatment. I'm back on the Estradiol patches & have a scan booked for next Tuesday to gauge the thickness of the endometrium. If everything is good then we'll be back in Barcelona just after Easter.

I am still amazed at how easy it is out there, when in this country we would have had to go back on a waiting list for another year or two.

When is your first appointment Jools? Will we be at IM together? Who is your appointment with? A word of advice, they don't take credit cards, everything has to be done via a bank transfer or in cash. As far as I can see this is their only failing.

Hi Ladies,

10 fertilised, and my ET is booked for tomorrow. Will let you all know how many make it and how I get on.

Tracker - there are two clinics here, one called Isida and the other called IRM. They both have web-sites - do a google search. Isida is the one I am using, but I've heard good things about IRM too, it's just a much smaller outfit, but cheaper!

Debbie - so sorry.

Jude - good luck on your scan.

Hi to everyone else
