Hello everyone!

I just found this board while searching the net for information, and after reading some of the posts I had to register! I'm 35, hubby is 46 (his is the second marriage for both). We've been TTC for over a year, he has 3 kids previously, I have had trouble all my life...miscarriage at 18, then scar tissue buildup as a result. Bilateral fimbrioplasty at 22 while married, and no birth control since I was 20, with no results and no diagnosis, even though I was asking my doctors for help. Then I moved to a new city and now have a wonderful, PROACTIVE doctor at a local fertility clinic who is taking me seriously! Two weeks ago I had my left fallopian tube removed due to damage from the scar tissue once again. Periods have always been normal, yet they found my prolactin to be a little high (only 29)? I'm currently on Bromocriptine, and I'm wondering if anyone can give me their opinions of this drug, as I seem to be having a little difficulty with the headaches and nausea.
She seems to think that this alone should help us get pregnant, but if we have no natural results within six months we are going the IVF route. Just wondering if anyone here has any stories about their experience with Bromo pre-IVF?

Thanks, all...and nice to meet you!

Hi Kanndy ... Welcome to the site ! You sound like you've had a pretty hard time of it, and you must be delighted to have found your new dr. I don't recall anyone mentioning Bromocriptine. I suppose you've Googled it, for side effects ?

Let's hope your dr's right, and the Bromo is the answer. Other ways of bringing down your prolactin (according to midwife Zita West) are by increasing zinc and vitamin B6. Good food sources of zinc = lean meat, fish and seafood, chicken, eggs, pumpkin an dsunflower seeds, rye, oats and whole grains. B6 = green leafy vegetables, whole grains, molasses, nuts, brown rice (yuk !), egg yolks, organ meats, fish, poultry, pulses and seeds.

Zita West's book "Fertility and Conception" is well worth the £15.

Good luck !

Thanks for the quick replies, ladies!

I will post on the general board to look in to this further. I have googled Bromo, and have come up with a split of 70%pro and 30%con.

Good luck, ladies!

Hi and welcome. Paid no heed to Sandra's 'yuk' comment about brown rice. You'll just need to find a way of eating it that you like. If it helps, go for it! The book referred to has a lot of practical, nutritional advice for dealing with ttc, about 25% is given over to infertility. We rave about it all the time on here!

I've not heard of those meds before so can't help but am glad you found the board.
