Hello from Minnesota

Hello!

I have been lurking on this site for awhile, and feel silly that I haven't posted sooner! I feel like I know a lot of you
As much as I'd like to think the cycle worked this time, I really don't think it did. I'm already thinking about round #2. I'm not wanting to be negative; maybe I'm just trying to prepare myself for

I have been lurking on this site for awhile, and feel silly that I haven't posted sooner! I feel like I know a lot of you, and spend a lot of time following your stories and progress. You are a close bunch, and the support offered here is wonderful. (I live in the States, and this is definitely the best website I’ve found!)

My husband and I have been ttc for about a year and a half; I'm 34 and he's 36. We just completed our first IVF cycle. Much more involved than I bargained for! What a rollercoaster…

I ended up getting mildly hyperstimulated, but they were able to retrieve 19 eggs, so I guess the "discomfort" was worth it. I had my transfer last Saturday, and they were able to put in a grade 1 and a grade 2 8-cells. There were eight additional embryos to work with, so I thought we'd definitely have a frozen cycle or two to fall back on. Well, none of them made it, and I had my first major, major meltdown! It's just so upsetting to think of having to start all over again after all that work. I was disappointed, but I know I should be grateful that we ended up with two good ones to toss in!

Anyhow, as much as I'd like to think the cycle worked this time, I really don't think it did. I hate to feel so negative; I guess I just don't have a good feeling about it. Sigh. I felt so sick and crampy after the transfer, and that can't be good! ??? Maybe I'm trying to prepare myself for the daunting thought of tackling round #2. We're testing on Thursday, so I guess we'll find out soon enough! It goes without saying that the 2ww is enough to drive anyone to drink (of course, adding insult to injury, no drinking allowed!). I do miss my wine, however...

This site has definitely given me a lot of comfort, and quite an education! Thanks and baby dust to all--

Hi Shannon,

Glad you decided to post. Now we can get to know you!! That 2ww is hell I know but try to have PMA. Good Luck with your test on Thursday. You will have to get LittleP or Sand to add you to the test date thread.

Hi Shannon

It's funny to come out from lurking isn't it? I just outed myself on a different message (totally different subject) where I'd been lurking for about 2 years! I felt like I knew them but I think for them it was as if someone had jumped out from behind a pot plant at a party. It's good that there's an intro thread here as it does make it all a bit more civilised.

Personally, I don't think you can tell at all whether it's worked or not at this stage. Everyone analyses every twinge but I think it's just a way of trying to have some sort of control over a process which, in reality, is completely out of your hands. I haven't got to my 2ww yet but I know I'll be exactly the same and this is the last go for me, so it all hangs on this (unless I get any frosties, which is probably unlikely and like you, I think I'll be gutted).

Anyway, now you've got this far, why not come over to the general board and join in with the other 2ww-ers and get your test date on the June test date thread. Not long to go now. Wishing you a BFP

Hi Shannon - Glad you posted ! We've recently had a couple of real sick ladies from ET onwards, who have gone on to get their BFPs - so you really can't tell. Try to keep up the PMA 'cos it really does help ... lots of positive visualisation etc ..

Post your test date on the July Test thread, and we'll add your name to the list.

Good luck !!

hi gals. i too am on the 2ww and it's driving me crazy so you are not alone. i've been trying to hold back from taking a HPT which is very hard. i analyze every little tingle and cramp. i know if i take the HPT and it's negative, i'll have a bad 2ww so that's what really making me not take one. or if it's positive i'll tell myself it could be the progestrone injections so i shouldn't get my hopes up. my blood test will be on friday and sometime i feel like i'm pregnant and sometimes i feel like i'm not. but i'm just glad that i'm one step close to where i was at yesterday and try to think positive. it's all we can do ladies. hope you get a BFP on thursday.

Hi Shannon

Welcome to posting! I only lurked for a couple of days after finding this site, then last Sunday I was feeling so depressed, isolated and self-absorbed that I just wanted to talk to someone who understood what I was going through and why I was so down. So I took the plunge - what a GOOD decision!

I cried when I received my first reply ... how sad is that!! However in the last couple of days I have received several replies (and didn't cry!!) and have posted again - I feel so much better and although some of that can be hormonal I am positive that a lot of it is thanks to this site and the kindness of the others who post here.

So - well done for joining - I hope you receive lots of support (am sure you will) - and I wish you lorryloads of luck and success for your test

maybe xx

I am also new to the site, and I'm also from Minnesota. My doctor is at the Center For Reproductive Medicine? Are you also going there?
