New the Boards

Hello Everyone!
I am excited to have joined this forum. I have been reading over different boards for the past few weeks and am amazed by the support that everyone provides. It is so great to see people going through their own personal difficulties extend their heart and "ears" out to others.

My little about myself and my history. I am 31 years old and live in Michigan with my husband who is 30. We have been married 5 years this coming August and been together for 10+ years and our second attempt trying to get pregnant. We started trying within a year of being married because I had several sugeries on my ovaries and we were concerned it might take us a while to get pregnant. My surgeries include:
- Right ovarian cyst and left ovarian tumor at age 15 via laparotomy
- Left ovarian cyst at age 19 via laparotomy
- Right ovarian cyst at age 24 via laparoscope
- Cervical LEEP to remove cancer at 25

After never getting my cycle in control and no reason as to why my OB-GYN placed me on the Ortho Evra Patch. Not quite a moving forward step, but not knowing what else to do, we followed her suggestion. Since then I've had the following surgical procedures:
- Adhesion removal at age 26 via laparoscope
- Laser ablation of cervix to remove addition cancer cells at age 29

We are now 1.5+ years into our second attempt. Like Liberty, we had and still have people telling us "don't worry about, you are just tyring to hard", "it will happen if it is suppose to be", and my favorite "just get drunk, that is what I did." I was even put on Paxil to help me relax (but there were other reasons creating stress as well). However, we've done just about everything: BBT, Ovulation Kit testing, HSG, Sonic HSG, and U/S which all looked great. I also had another surgery to remove what was thought to be endometriosis in 10/04, but were more adhesions. Also, I just completed a 3rd cycle of Clomid.

Just this week, we met with an RE who informed my husband and I that per my 10/04 operative report, I have severe tubal damage and our only hope was to consider IVF. So, on that day we signed up to start with IVF. Within the next week I am to get my physical and my first series of blood work. I am both excited and scared. Excited at the prospect of being pregnant within the next 8 weeks and scared because though familar with the procedure I do not know what to expect from the drugs + the idea of a miscarriage.

What has made this really hard is being around people that even though they try to understand, they really can't because they already have kids or are pregnant. I had one friend tell me she was having difficulties getting pregnant "too". Then explained it was because she did not know for the first 6 months when she was ovulating. However, once she started using the OV kits she got pregnant the 2nd month. Though she is a dear friend, I don't think she can truly relate. However, it is great to find a place where there are women who can TRULY understand and relate to me.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your story to learn, motive and inspire the rest of us. Each of you are in my thoughts.

OH WJAwad, you have been through so much!! I’m sorry to hear about your suffering and I totally understand wanting something so bad and not knowing why it wont happen. And then to have everyone around you tell you to relax and that we try to hard, (is it even possible to try to hard anyway?) when all they have to do is look at their spouse and they are pregnant…UGGHHH!! LOL

My problem now is that I have been telling our friends and family that we are doing treatment and I am just ecstatic, screaming it from the roof tops and they could care less. I guess I can’t except them to understand how much this means to us now when they didn’t understand the pain my DH and I were going through without the help. :?

Welcome to the boards and good luck with your treatment!! I have found everyone here to be nothing but sincere, caring, and full of great information and advice. It is truly special to have a place to come to where everyone understands your pain and joy!! :!:

Hi Wendy - Welcome to the Site and glad you've found us ! You have really been through the mill already haven't you ..

Glad that you're about to start a cycle. It's exciting when you get your dates through, and can get going. It's only natural to be afraid but really, once you get started, you'll wonder just what it was all about !

Good luck !
