Catch Up

Postby Grace » Sun Oct 30, 2005 7:06 pm

Hello Ladies.
It has been a while, where is the time going this year?
It has been lovely to catch up with Luce's news and Alison's and of course Becky - it really would be great if you could come over here sometime to meet us!!
Special hello to SamK, thanks for thinking of me, hope things are going well for you. Hi to Amanda too I think your new course was starting in September? how is it going? probably keeping you pretty busy.

All okay with me. We are still pursuing intercountry adoption. It is a slow, slow process and have not moved on much.
We have run into a few problems regarding our medicals, it seems to be sorting itself out (fingers crossed) but we will know more in a few weeks. I am still feeling very positive about it though and have no regrets that we decided to stop treatment. Don't get me wrong, I do have my days and times when I feel very sad but I just feel I have got my life back after so many years of heartache.
My sister is to have her third baby next year. I know I am moving on because even though I felt that old familiar sadness it was really nothing like it was for the first two babies. So I suppose I am getting there slowly but surely!!
Luce I know the difficulties of shift work. Rod has always worked shifts and really odd hours. You do get used to it and begin to work around it but I know it's quite hard too. It sounds like you are doing well though. I do admire you the way you completely changed direction. Sometimes I think I need to do that - job wise, but to be honest am not sure which direction to go in. My job is fine but to be honest it is a bit dead end really and offers no challenge what so ever. Speaking of jobs how did you get on Alison? you were doing an interview for a new possition, how did it go?
Well girsl shall we try and meet?? I am really up for it. We should start to think of a few dates as you know we will be getting busy with our Christmas socialising before we know it!!
What about Tuesday 29th November for an early evening drink?
or perhaps 8th December for same? These are only ideas as I know the difficulties of shifts and other committments so please give a few alternative dates. It would be really good to see you again.
Any news of Lou? it has been a while.
I do think of you all often even though none of us are on here much now.
Take care all
Love

Hi Grace, so fabulous to hear from you. Yes a meet up sounds great. I could do either of the dates you suggest but know it will be harder for others - let's hope though we can sort something because its been far too long since I've seen you. Has it really been nearly two years since we first met that January? It seems a lifetime ago but also really not long at all...

Its good to hear from you and lovely to hear you sounding really positive. I know what you mean about judging progress by how we feel about family and friends' children. My brother has three now (I suspect it is a bit different when its your sister) but its definitely got easier. And I can honestly say that the day out I had last week with the elder two (who are 3 and 5) was fabulous fun - day in London going to the aquarium etc. Can also say I was absolutely knackered by the end of it!

I didn't get the job - thanks for asking, I'd forgot I'd written about it on here! I'm more miffed that someone's rejected me than disappointed not to have got that particular job! I've been consoling myself this evening with my favourite internet passtime and have booked a skiing holiday for February half term.

I think that's my lot. Looking forward to hearing from Amanda, Luce and Lou (and Becky!) and hopefully seeing you in a month or so.

Lots of love

Alison xx

Hello girls

I think the dates for a meet up might be difficult for people?? I know it gets a bit crazy at this time of year.

I am still fine though, what about you Alison?

Shall we make it for the 8th December that way we have another bit of time if anyone else can make it?

Hope everyone is well. Is n't it hard to believe it will soon be Christmas again??. It seems such a long time ago since we all met on that January evening.
Any takers for the 8th let me know. I can come up to town late afternoon/early evening.

Love to all

Hi Grace - yes making it 8 December is probably a good idea as that will give people a bit more time. I can still definitely do that date although won't be able to take any more time off work - but could meet up somewhere in central London at about 6 if that's OK with you. Luce, Amanda, Lou, are you about?

Pleased you can make it Alison. 6 is fine for me.
Can you think of somewhere easy enough for us to meet?. If you remember I am Mrs Suburbia and don't venture up to the big smoke that often!! I can't exactly remember where the places were, where we met before but I managed to find either of them easily enough.
I am looking forward to seeing you and hopefully one or two of the other girls too?
Talk soon

Grace - can I be a pain and suggest meeting a bit earlier - say 5pm? Serious crisis has come up - am trying to get a hair appointment before christmas and the only day they can do is late night next Thursday!! I'd be able to stay til 7ish. Hope this would be OK but let me know if its getting too much of a pain. I can't remember where you come in to but if Victoria is any good that would be fab for me. There is a big "Ask" pizza place on Victoria Street more or less opposite the station (once you've crossed the buses area) which I'm sure would have space at that time of day, and we could grab a glass or two of wine and a bit of garlic bread?

Very much hope to still see you and anyone else who is around. Love

yes, you can be a pain!! but I do understand the importance of hair so no problem.
Actually 5 is fine. I can easily get to Victoria. Basically I come out the main entrance and cross the road? even I should be able to do that.

I am short sighted though and tend not to wear my specs often (vanity thing) so keep and eye out for me.
It looks like it will be just us two, it will be nice to have a proper catch up though. I am looking forward to it.
See you on Thursday.

Grace - That's great. If you come out of the main (rail) station you will be in the bus station bit with some shops on the other side of it, and you have to go through/round those shops (there is a path through) and then it is opposite you (on the other side of the road) - sorry I'm sure I'm making this sound much more complicated than it is!! The address is 160 Victoria Street. I'll loiter near the door and keep an eye out for you. Oh, and I'll wear my bright red coat so even without your specs we'll hopefully spot each other. Very much looking forward to seeing you

Love

Hi Girls,
Just logged on for the first time in ages, should not have left it so long!

Have a great time on Thursday. I actually have to come to London this Friday and I have college now on a Thursday so I won't be able to make it this time.

Will make a point of writing a much longer & more interesting message with my news in the next few days! Massage course is going really well and keeping me busy!

Have been thinking of you both and wondering how you have been getting on with the adoption stuff. I keep wondering if DH & I have enough resilience & energy left after all the ivf to go through it!

Take Care, talk soon, lots of love Amanda x
