How Soon After Birth - Can IVF STart Again?

Post by Melanie71 »

Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows - How soon after giving birth can you go back in for a cycle of IVF???

Will it matter if you have to do another stimulated cycle with drugs - or a transfer of frozen embryos (Natural Cycle).

Can a person still breastfeed if they are in another cycle of IVF?

THanks
Melanie

Hello,

I am not a doctor or a nurse, just a mother of two (and a half). I personally did not cycle while I was breastfeeding. I have heard it can make it more difficult to get pregnant, but I also know that you can still get pregnant. I would as your RE if they prefer you stop before cycling. As for how long you should wait before getting pregnant again, most doctors advise 6 months to a year. However, it is a personal choice. My mother got pregnant only a month after I was born and she was breastfeeding at the time. It is also dependant on how your baby was born. C-Sections are much longer recovery, whereas vaginal are generally quicker.

If I were you, I would as your doctor. They are generally open about these type of questions.

Good luck and Congrats on your little one.
