The cost of surrogacy
In the UK, all surrogate hosts are altruistic volunteers. Payment for acting as a host is not allowed. But all reasonable expenses of the host may be paid. For example, clothes, travel expenses, and loss of earning. In USA, some states such as Virginia, payment of the host is allowed.
The cost for IVF surrogacy or natural surrogacy varies. In addition, there are legal fees to be considered.
