Hi all,

I've just had my third laparoscopy which also included a hysteroscopy and dye test as my consultant is putting me forward for IVF.

My only probllem is my BMI.He won't send off the application for IVF until my BMI is down and I feel so helpless.

I have seen a nutritionist and am following a strict diet, but the weight isn't coming off as quick as I would like. I am also going to the gym and having personal trainer sessions.

Has anyone got any suggestions as I really want to get on with it. Plus in my area there is a 6 month waiting list.

I'd really appreciate some help!

Hi Swimchic-
Sorry to hear that he won't submit the application til your BMI is normal... that's a lot of pressure on top of the anxiety/stress that is this rollercoaster of infertility. My only suggestion is to try Weight Watchers. I'm currenly a 'lifetime' member which means I reached a goal weight within Weight Watchers healthy guidelines and have maintained it for almost a year. All in all I've been with WW for nearly 4 years (coincedentally the same length I've been on the infertility rollercoaster) and I've lost 39 pds! Don't worry... it didn't take 4 years to lose. :)
If you do decide to try WW feel free to email me with questions and I can also give you some tips. And hopefully your doctor will be submitting that application before you know it!

I would have to agree with nothopelessyet - I joined weight watchers in January and lost 21 lbs within 6 months, have met my goal weight and am now a lifetime member. I wanted to lose weight before doing IVF and now my BMI is 20. I feel great and I am ready to start the IVF process. Weight watchers is great because it really isnt a diet, just helps you make healthier options - my sister joined with me and she lost about 20 in the same time as me. Exactly- it's not a diet... you still eat "real" food. WW just teaches you portion control and tips for keeping your mouth busy instead of eating. Of course I still struggle everyday, but I try not to beat myself up. These are 30 year old habits and I'm not going to break them overnight. But I too started losing weight at the same time we started ttc. Now that I'm down nearly 40 pds I have more energy and feel great. Plus I know when i DO get pregnant I'll have a healthier pregnancy.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I am familiar with weightwatchers and have done it in the past.

In the end I went to see a nutritionist who specialises in weight loss for fertility. It was extremly interesting and informative and I have to say a lot better than weightwatchers ( but before you all jump in arms, I have to say each to there own...it has worked in the pass). However, this has been much better for me. We are going a long the basis of the GI diet with a tweek for fertility.

The good news is that I have lost one stone and we are being referred for the IVF! :D

That's cool that the nutrionist specializes in diets particularly for fertility. I wish you the best!

In my opinion only taking control on diet will not effects a lot in losing weight. Regularly exercising and doing Yoga is the better and the best option for losing weight. Just go for the exercise regular,take consumption of healthy food and drink plenty of water and also avoid to eat oily and fatty food. Continue performing these tips helps you a lot in losing weight and gaining good health.

No intention to lose weight is the most common symptoms are often side effects of cancer and cancer treatment. Poor response to treatment of cancer, reducing the quality of life and shorter survival time, may lead to a lot of weight loss. The agency may become weaker and less able to tolerate cancer treatment.

Why don't you try to enroll in a fat camp? I found it enjoyable and certainly you'll burn fat. Its the comfortable way to lose weight.

Losing weight can be a challenge, especially if you have many pounds to shed. It can be difficult to sift through all the fad diets, and downright dangerous supplements and pills on the market today. How do you know what works and what doesn’t? Whom should you believe?

Here are 10 no-nonsense tips for fast, healthy weight loss:

1) Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day - this helps flush your body of impurities and fat. You can also substitute a few glasses of water for green or herbal tea.
2) Break up your meals into 5 or 6 smaller ones - this will help speed up your metabolism and keep you from getting too hungry in between meals.
3) Increase your fruit and vegetable intake - these are packed with vitamins.
4) Decrease your fat intake - try for no more than 20 grams per day.
5) Exercise for 30 minutes each day - take a walk, or play a game with your kids. Just get moving.
6) Find a hobby - take up knitting or painting to keep your hands busy.
7) Don’t eat that late night snack - Try not to eat for at least 2 hours before going to bed.
8) Listen to your body - your body will tell you when it is full, hungry, stressed, tired. Learn the signs and obey what your body is telling you.
9) Increase your fiber - choose whole grain pasta and bread.
10) Cleanse and detoxify - this may be the most important. Rid your body of harmful toxins and chemicals, while allowing it to function normally.

Over weight is the big problem for everyone. Over weight is also reason for the different diseases. In that situation weight loss is best thinking. There are many ways are available for weight loss like: Exercise, Yoga and Morning walk.

Nice sharing.
I think if we controlled our diet then we could loss our weight rapidly because i noticed that every fat man eat much junk and fast foods but if they left all fast foods then they could loss their weight easily.

Weight Loss Tips :

- Daily Drinks 9-10 glass of water
- Do regular Yoga exercise
- Daily walks 30 minutes
- Avoid junk food
- Reduce tension level
- Sleep well

Well no doubt that these tips are very nice and good for weight lose. I really like this post. Well in my opinion proper exercise and a diet plan are good for weight lose. For weight lose we should eat less but natural food like fruits and vegetables.
