Re: DONOR EGG Tmt Thread... " Egg-heads"

Hi everyone,

I am about to embark on a donor egg cycle and would like some advice. I plan to use a donor found for me by my clinic. Are the consents that both the donor and I sign enough or should I have a legal agreement outside of that? I have no way of knowing who she is and vice versa, so I am ...

Re: Ghost -- criteria for egg donor?

Hi Ghost,

Thanks for the quick reply. My donor looks good, but her MIS/AMH is lower than 3. How low can I go? Will the MIS/AMH matter terribly for a 22 year old donor?

Many thanks!

Ghost -- criteria for egg donor?

Hi Ghost,

What do you think is a good antral follicle count and MIS level for an egg donor?

Many thanks!

Re: Ghost: Another question about egg donation

Thanks for the quick reply. What do you think accounts for such a variation in success rates? I know that my clinic treats a wider range of patients (meaning those turned away at other places) than most other NYC clinics. Could that effect things?

Ghost: Another question about egg donation

First, thanks so much for answering all of these questions! You are a life saver!!

Here is the dilemma:

I like the clinic with which I have worked, but its success rate hovers around 50% for de cycles. I would leave for another clinic (though I am in NYC and none of the clinics get near the ...

Re: Ghost: Questions about egg donation

Thanks for the advice. The clinic requires that every donor goes to the clinic to receive the meds. They watch their donors like hawks!

My concern is about the number of eggs she produces. I will post her numbers when I receive them.

Thanks!

Re: Ghost: Questions about egg donation

Thanks for the advice. I will ask these questions during the presentation.

She is a new donor (never been pregnant) and 22. Do you think I should risk a new donor or look for one that has been successful?

Many thanks!

Ghost: Questions about egg donation

Hi Ghost,

I am leaning very seriously toward egg donation and want to ask the right questions when I speak to the RE about the donor and her protocol.

I was planning to ask about MIS, AFC, FSH, TSH, and her medical history. Is there anything else blood-test and otherwise I should ask?

Anything I ...

Ghost-- Question about lab quality

Hi Ghost,

As I think about donor eggs, I've been advised not only to think about the RE and protocol but also about the embryology lab.

How do I tell is a clinic has a good lab? Are success rates with FET a good indication? Also, what do you think is a good success rate for donor cycles?

Many ...

Re: DONOR EGG Tmt Thread... " Egg-heads"

Thanks for all of these replies. I am leaning toward donor eggs, but the process seems daunting right now. I am just beginning and there so many options that I don't really know how to start.

So, for all of you veterans, how do you pick a clinic? Should I use an agency or the current RE's in-house ...

Re: Ghost and others -- what would you do?

Thanks for the advice. I would insist on no suppression, if I were to do it again. However, given my age, I don't think that I have time to go back on the DHEA.

And of course, there is the cost, both emotional and financial (though if I won the lottery tomorrow, I would go for it!)

So I am still ...

Re: Ghost and others -- what would you do?

Hi Ghost,
I don't know what the E2 was, but I was on the EPP so perhaps that had something do with it?

A month before the cycle, my regular endocrinologist made me go off of the DHEA as he thought it was too elevated (I was on it for around 3 months). I didn't check it right before I cycled, though ...

Re: Ghost and others -- what would you do?

Thanks for addressing all of these questions, Ghost. Do you think the better FSH has to do with certain changes (30 lb weight loss, synthroid to get the TSH down, metformin, DHEA)?

The 11 egg cycle was over a year ago, so I assume things have gone down hill from there.

It's hard to lose the ...

Re: Ghost and others -- what would you do?

Hi Ghost,

My partner has low morphology and low-ish motility and count. The RE thinks that the sperm is fine for ICSI. If we do go with donor eggs, I may ask about using some donor sperm just in case.

The RE said the manner in which the embryos failed to develop (between day 3 and day 5, the 2 ...
