Hi Girls,

Everything is fine this end too!

I'm 18 weeks now. Regularly listen to babes heart-beats with doppler. I'm still convinced it's two girls - h/b regularly over 140, and usually 150+. Will find out at my growth scan next week if it is just an old wives tale or if it really works!

Planning ...

Alette - lucky you, only putting on 2 kilos so far. I've put on over a stone already, was feeling guilty but then found out that with twins they like you to put on a pound a week for the first 24 weeks then a pound and a half a week for the rest, so I'm only a couple of pounds over!

BigJ - bleeding ...

Caroline - just seen your post - I wsa told the blood tests could not be used for twins as one could mask the other?

Allette - any news on your friend?

Got my doppler this week and have been listening to the twins every night, and recording their heart-rate. Expensive - but worth it!

Hi Allette,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Like Sue, I was also given ratios for my twins so I would suggest your friend goes back and asks for more information. It might also help her if she knows the size of the NT - they can give her this information too.

To be honest, if she would not ...

Hi Mil,

With twins I was told I needed to put on a pound a week, till 24 weeks, then a pound and a half a week. Have probably put on a bit more than a pound a week so far.

I was in maternity clothes and showing by 10/11 weeks.

Good luck

Hi Caroline - no my twins are not identical, so no worries about TTS. Glad things worked out for you.

Take care

I quite fancy a doppler - but they are quite pricey. They seem to go for about £100 on e-bay, but I think it would be fun, even if a bit extravagent.

Not sure if it would give me any extra reassurance - afterall, if anything really has gone wrong and you can't find a heartbeat it is too late for ...

Hi Allette,

Yes I am having full hospital care. My GP is not providing anything other than reassurance!

Has anyone bought a doppler?

I've been told i won't have another scan till I'm 20 weeks - I'm 13 weeks today - sounds like a long gap? Or is this standard for twins too?

Hi Big J - saw your news on the ff board. Congratulations again.

Agree with Allette. I had first scan at just over six weeks and all you can see is a sac (or two?) with a fetal pole (heartbeat?), At 8 weeks it is a fuzzy blob, with a heartbeat, but at 11+ it looks like a real person, just a tiny ...

Hi Allette,

Good to see you on this thread.

Do you know what the midwife will do on Monday? Is it a rountine appointment? Do you get to see the same midwife?

I remember with my daughter we did not get to see the same midwife twice in the whole 9 months - a real dissapointment, but a standard ...

Caroline - 1 in 109 is much better than 1 in 20, so it is still a good result, relative for your age. I know anything under 1 in 250 is considered 'high-risk', but there is no point having invasive tests unless you would consider a termination. Why put yourself through all that extra stress?

With ...
