Up(down)date

Had my blood drawn yesterday for another HCG test in anticipation of this morning's "because the patient demanded it" sonogram. It had dropped from over 41,000 last week to a little over 24,000 this week, and the doc didn't think I really needed to come in. But I did anyway, and we took a peek ...

Thank you both so much for replying. I actually paged the IVF nurse on call this evening to ask her what in the heck this could mean. She told me not to have any hope of a possible pregnancy, and said that it could be a molar pregnancy. I Googled that and am now good and scared.

We are using a good ...

For anybody who may be able to shed some light: Wed before last we had our first sonogram at 7 weeks. My HCG was 22,000 + and the embryo measured 5mm, and the heartbeat was 115 BBM. The doc was concerned because the embryo measured at 6 weeks instead of 7 weeks. One week later (last Wed) my HCG was ...

HELP - HCG skyrocketing after heart stopped beating???

The doc was concerned because the embryo measured at 6 weeks instead of 7 weeks. One week later (last Wed) my HCG was down to 14,000+ and the embryo had only grown to ...

What a great picture!!!!

I've read about PGD and my impression is that it requires tremendous skill and experience; since it's such a new type of testing that probably means that not a lot of labs around the country have done much of it.

My RE explained that they normally only do PGD if the woman ...

Anybody gone through post D&C or genetic testing, and/or

Hi -

I'm a little over 8 weeks, but we found out a couple of days ago that the embryo died about a week ago. I'm scheduled for a D&C next Monday (my request). Here's my question:

I thought my doc would be able to examine the products of conception and confirm whether or not the demise was caused ...

Wow!!!! How exciting & scarey & - just, wowie zowie!

PLEASE don't let my situation scare you. Remember that (a) I am 40 years old; (b) I smoke and take medication that I don't have the option of discontinuing; and (c) ours was a singleton. Many rules about pregnancy change when you introduce ...

Hi, Everybody -

We had our follow-up scan this morning, which showed no heartbeat and virtually no growth. DH and I are ok and will be taking a break from things for awhile (the past year has been all about making babies & having surgical and other invasive procedures) before we move on to ...

Thanks so much for the reassurance, Rachel. I've read a lot of your posts on this forum and you are so positive and upbeat! I'll send out lots of positive thoughts for all those of us in this sort of limbo period (guess you could think of that as being the whole first trimester!).

Hi -

I think I'd posted awhile back on this thread but thought I'd give an update...

First off - CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who made it this far. I think it's a scarey time for all of us and all I can say is that this board includes some of the most upbeat, supportive, encouraging and brave ...

Just got back from our scan, and our embryo is 6 days behind schedule.

The embryo measured in at 5mm CRL, and the heart at 115 beats per minute. The doctor expected to see a 7-weeks gestational embryo but instead said that I am six days behind (i.e., the measurement indicates a 6 weeks 1 day ...

Congratulations on your scan. That must have been so exciting!!

I don't think there is a "too early" if your doctor was able to see the sac. From what I've read online different docs choose different times. My doc always waits until 5 weeks gestation and I'm going in for mine next Wed. I've been ...

Thanks so much for the quick reassurance. I did find a site that says exactly what you guys just told me (what a relief). What a worrier I'm turning out to me, jeesh!
