I really enjoy injecting myself. Even though I'm entirely kidding myself, I feel like I have some control over my fertility. It's constructive. I'm only giving myself subcutaneous injections, which don't hurt at all and are very easy to administer - you just stick it in and press it down.

I know ...

Can I join the club? My signature explains me. I'm 2wwing (halfway through!), and I would write more, but I'm busy bashing my brains out on the computer keyboard right now. I'll check back in when I am halfway to sane. Probably around Christmas.

Good luck to everyone here, and remember: old ...

I'd die and go to heaven if I got six follies. I got two this cycle, and only one fertilised, but I got a grade 1 emby out of it. My doctor said, "You could have had ten, and only one might have looked as good as this." So don't worry. I've done a lot of research on poor responders (funny how our ...

Jeez, $15,000? When you look at all the things governments spend money on, I think it's shocking that you have to pay so much for fertility treatment. We are largely covered by Medicare here in Australia, but I'm paying $3,000 (Australian - around $2,600 US) for a stim cycle and that's really ...

Ha! Thanks to all. Man, but did I enjoy that glass. As did my partner, who was lovely enough be give up the plonk with me in the beginning of this process. Then, of course, we needed to finish the bottle the next night. Back on the straight and narrow now though.

I remember my sister-in-law telling ...

Can I join in? My first cycle got cancelled cause I only produced three follicles, and only one was worth harvesting. (Bit like you, alittlegrace.) I was, as we all are, devastated. That was a down-reg cycle, now I'm going on a Clomid/FSH cycle with a boost in my FSH meds (Gonal F) to the highest ...

Hi A&P. I really wouldn't worry about it. I did the same internet research at one point, and did switch from ibuprofen to paracetamol, but I did get the feeling that the real worry was if you took a lot. I'm sure two wouldn't make any difference. You weren't told about it by the nurse BECAUSE it's ...

How do doctors choose treatments?

My clinic offers five different IVF treatment cycles:
  • Down regulation cycle
    Flare cycle
    Clomid / FSH cycle
    FSH and GnRH antagonist cycle
    Clomid or Natural cycle
Does anyone know how the choose?

Thanks T. I'm having a glass now and am already enjoying that mellow, melty, relaxing glow.

What you say about the first cycle is very comforting. The doctor suggested such a radical change to my treatment that I'm hoping the result will be radically different also.

As you advise, I'm trying to ...

A cancelled IVF cycle and a nice glass of Chardonnay

I'm 39, and my first ICSI cycle was cancelled today because I had only three follicles and two were scrawny and immature. We're going to try the old fashioned way to blast that lone mature egg into a full and satisfying existence (a long shot, as we have male-factor infertility), and then start on ...

What brilliant, wonderful stories.

I have just started ICSI, and just wanted to say that I researched it pretty thoroughly, and in the end felt satisfied that the majority of studies showed no difference in a child's developement whether they were born through ICSI or through regular IVF. One study ...

Hey Karlange,

Just wanted to let you know about our results - the doctor has cancelled this cycle. I'm devastated, obviously, but within hours the clinic rang me to tell me about the changes they were going to make next cycle - I'm off the down-reg cycle, and they're blasting me with Clomid and ...

Thanks Karlange. We've got another scan tomorrow morning, so we'll see then if my pathetic follies have sparked into action or if we cancel. My husband bought me the second series of The West Wing so if it turns out badly I plan to spend the day on the couch. And get a bit drunk - surely I can have ...
