Had Egg Collection this morning

Post by Valb »

I am new here. It's so wonderful seeing all the support you all give to each other. I'm 42 and just had my eggs collected this morning. I changed docs because the last cycle of IVF I got 19 eggs and all were immature/none fertilized. My new doc said it was due to some mistakes made. This morning I got 20 eggs, 14 mature, 3 borderline mature. They're doing icsi on all, I think. Has anyone else here had problems with their eggs..meaning, getting mature eggs that just don't fertilize? I'm very worried this time...

Thank for your help!!

Sounds like you had a great ER today!! Congratulations. It's very common for some follicles to have some immature eggs and even for some to be empty. It's difficult to get them all to age equally. And usually only a percent will fertilized. Some lucky people get 100 % , but it's very common to get around 50%. Sounds like your new RE did a great job.

Good luck!!

After a very worrying night, I woke up to a call from the lab saying I got 9 fertilized eggs! Then later in the day, one more decided to come along! 10. I almost fell over. I'll be 43 in September and was told by so many people (and doctors) that I waited too long. So anyone out there who's over 40, know that ANYTHING can happen!
