Testing on the 10th day after transfer?

Post by larisaM »

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone was told to test as early as 10 days after the transfer? I had my transfer on 3/18 and the doctor told me to come for a blood pregnancy test on 3/27. Has anyone gotten a BFP that early? Thank you,
Goog Luck To All! :? [/img]

Hi LarisaM

As soon as the embryo/blastocyst hatches and buries into the lining of the womb that is when your body starts to produce the pregnancy hormone which shows up onthe preg tests.

I think therefore that day 10 may be a little early but I think it all depends on your body and how much Hcg it will produce. Some pregnancy tests are very sentive and will pick it up but its up to you whether you want to do it that soon.

I have said on here previously that I will be testing from day 10 but the more I think about it and the more I have read that you can get false negatives/positives and they are really unreliable, I may just leave it until 1 or two days before my actual blood test.

From your dates that you have given it sounds like you had blastocyst transfer so it may be that your body will be producing the pregnancy hormone by Tuesday or Wednesday this week!!

Its up to you but I would suggest you try and stay calm (easier said than done I know  ), be positive as your embryos actually "made it" to blastocyst and leave the testing as long as you can..................if you read other stories on here a lot of the ladies say don't touch the HPT's at all and say to leave the testing to the dr's. For me though, I think I will be testing to have some idea what to expect on the DDAY.

Hope this helps you make your own decision but remember a negative can become a positive and (taking into account the final injections etc) a positive can also become a negative..................its hard I know.

I see you are on the list with me for the March testers - and I will be looking out for that BFP :D for you.......x Goodluck

Larisa,

My clinic only transfers 5 day blastocysts so they always schedule tests 9 days after the transfer and 14 days after the retrieval. My FET is a little different - I test 14 days after the day I start taking progesterone and 9 days after transfer. I don't know why clinics are different - I am pretty sure it depends on whether you had a 3 day or 5 day transfer after retrieval.
But if that's what they told you, I would trust them. A blood test will tell you if you are for sure prego - just stay away from the pee sticks that early!
Good luck sweetie! Get lots of rest - the 27th will be here before you know it!

HUGS,

Allison

Hi there.

I also tested 10 days after, and also had a blastocyst tranferred. I think techincally it's 16 days after egg retrieval, so the number of days after transfer that you test will depend on whether your tranferred a day 2 embie or a day 5 embie.

My test had excellent beta number, so it was all fine. Good luck!!!

Hi Larisa,

Good luck with the test! That 2ww will be over in no time (yeah right!! ... bring a good book sweetie!)

Think of your egg collection as day 0 (ie fertilisation date), typically you would be tested approx. day 14 post fertilisation. I tested day 11 on a day 3 transfer. So will depend on how old the emmby is before they pop it back into its rightful home

Try to steer youself away from the home preg tests and wait for your beta blood test! Esp testing early. The most sensative tests can be unreliable, I tested negative on a ultra sensative hpt the day before a positive beta bloods which showed high levels of hcg, so it SHOULD definately have shown on the hpt, but didnt!

Good luck! Wishing you heaps of luck and sending you lots of PMA and baby dust

Testing on the 10th day after transfer

Post by Sweetness »

Larisa,

We are almost on the same cycle, I had my e/r on March 8th, I had my e/t three days later on March 11th. My pg test is day after tomorrow March 22, so that will be 12 days for me, just 2 days longer than you. I have not been tempted to buy the hpt, to afraid the progesterone shots will give me a false positive. We only had three eggs retireved out of 9 follicles, the other 6 were empty. Out of those three two were not mature and only one fertilized, so we had just one to transfer. It was a grade "B" 7 cell embryo which my doctor told me was very good. Please keep us updated on you're progress, and yes the waiting period after the e/t until the pg test is the worst! I'm trying to be hopeful and praying a lot since we only have one. I think you have a better chance than me, you are only 29 and you probably had more eggs and embryos than I did; you didn't say. Good luck to you and I hope your baby dreams come true..

Hi Sweetness,

Thank you for your post. Don't worry about the quantity of the embryos as long as the quality is good. It really just take 1 embryo! Stay positive! This is my first IVF and I am also very nervous.

We are in a process of our first IVF cycle with PGD(testing of the embryos for chromosomal abnormalities). I had 14 eggs 13 fertilized and after the PGD testing only 4 came back NORMAL! This means that we only had a 30% chance of having of normal pregnancy without the tests. Everytime I got pregnant natrurally the embryos had some kind of genetic or chromosomal abnormalities and expelled themselves. This is what happens if its not a healthy embryo.

We did the transfer of the 2 normal ebryos on 3/18 and we have a greater chance of carrying to term being that there are no chromosomal or genetic abnormalities with the ones the trasfered.

I hope that you and I are both reading a BFP+++++ soon.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Testing on the 10th day after e/t

Post by Sweetness »

Larisa,

Thank you for you're reply, would you believe that is what everyone keeps telling me "it only takes just one". My heat knows this but my head is looking at the odds. I was praying this morning and I did come to realize something, the odds may be against us but Jesus is with us. I much rather have Jesus than odds, though I'm only human and having a difficult day today. Tomorrow is my blood pg test, and I'm so anxious, the waiting like I told you in my earlier post is the hardest. You are right quality is what is most important, and we did have aa good quality embryo, we even got to see it under a microscope before the transfer. WOW! Was that amazing to say the very least. I had read a post from you about how you had 4 natural pregnancy's and misscarried each time due to chromosonal factors. I think it is wonderful that there is testing that can be done so that you know if an embryo is normal or not. You are right a lot of pg's with chromosnal abnormalities will misscarry, but a lot dont. My husband was married before and he had a daughter with a chromasonal deletion and other abnormalities. The natural mother was not in the picture when we met and fell in love, we married and she became my baby girl too. Sadly 2 years after we married she died, but she was the most wonderful, most beautiful baby I have ever had the privilage of knowing. Not to mention that God alowed me to be her mother, there was a reason for her life and God wanted her here even though it was for a very short time. So not all pregnancy's end up in misscarriage if they are not normal ones. Only the good Lord knows why, I sure dont, why some make it through a pg and some dont. I'm very happy for you though that this test is avaliable, what a gift that must be. I sure pray we both have BFP's soon as well, I'll update you tomorrow when I get my results, and please update me next week when you get yours. I'm very intrested to know....Take care.

Sweetness, good luck tomorrow! You have the right attitude - whatever happens is God's will, whether we understand it or not!
I will be praying for you and Larissa that your dreams come true very soon!
