Hi Girlies,

You guys are amazing and I can hardly keep up! This week has been crazy for me because I am in the middle of doing conferences (i am a kindergarten teacher). All I have done is worked and slept. I am counting down the days until my first ultra sound and just praying that all is developing well up to this point. I had one scary thing happen today. I had a aura (distorted vision), naseua, and then the worst headache of my life. Well,my girlfriend diagnosed me with my first migrane-yuck!! I will call my doctor on Monday to see if i should be worried about it.

Eminde- WOW! I am so excited for you!

LisaB and MLG- Way to go and good luck!

Jan, great job on the working out! It must feel great to be watching the pounds melt away. Keep up the hard work. I hate working out and I love food- not a good combo but okay now that I am eating for me plus 1 or 2????.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I have a couple questions if anyone knows the answers.

When you go for your first scan on stims. I know they are looking to see how many follies there are, but what are they testing on the blood test? A level of some sort. But what numbers am I looking to hear?

Also how many days after your first scan do you typically do the EC?

I feel pretty okay the meds aren't making me feel bloated yet, its only been 2 full days though..

Hugs to everyone!

Danielle

Eminde - Two Beannies!!!! Wow, that’s EXCELLENT news!! :D Reading your post reminded me how I felt when we 1st found out about ours (despite our pessimistic - albeit, accurate doc), we probably would have spent more time enjoying it, if our coping mechanism hadn’t kicked in but I’m happy to hear that it seems you don’t need one, so enjoy every minute of it :D Have a wonderful time in England, I’ll be praying for you all and WELL DONE!!!

MLG – They got 12 eggs – wonderful!! How many fertilized? Good luck for ET tomorrow :D You must be feeling tired, so let us know as soon as you can.

Lisab75 – Excellent news on 10 follies!! You’ll bake a few more before EC comes then you’ll be in that 2WW in no time. How’s your friend feeling? is he/she still in hospital? Are they doing better? I hope it was nothing serious.

Danielle – As a gift, the clinic gave us a wonderful Health Care book for pregnant women called "Healthy Beginnings" put together by the “Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada”, it’s got an excellent nutritional shopping list – too long to write - but it pretty much confirmed the stuff my mum had already told me. If you go on the canadian yahoo search engine and key in “Obstetricians and Gy….” etc. you maybe able to access and download these pages. Btw, re:bloodwork, they’re looking at your Estrogen level, can’t really give you a figure now as it varies, re: when EC? depends when they feel your follies should be matured, which also varies I’ve heard some people stimm for 20+ days, I stimmed for 10 days. Nothings right or wrong, just depends how your body reacts to the meds.

Traci – How did your scan go? And your boobs….still sore?? I had to laugh on reading you’re poking them and running between 2 houses, sweetie that’s just crazy! but I know what you mean about wanting to keep both homes spotless. I have tenants in my London house and each time we go back we stay at my parents but stop by my own just so I’m reassured that all is A.OK and I always kind of wish I hadn’t, as not seeing it in showroom condition is kind of sacrilegious to me but my Estate Agent always gets responsible professional tenants who look after it and the Agent has to deal with looking after it the year round, so I have no “real” complaints.

Sml – Totally understand your dilemma about work. As we’ve previously discussed, work now just can’t compete with the desire to have a baby but being forced to make a decision between the 2 is such a slap in the face, when you’ve worked so hard for it. Hearing about a friend having a 2nd child and early promotion, would have had most of us, needing to be talked off a ledge but it’s good that you were able to discuss your work situation with the Chair of your dept. (I assume that’s what you were discussing) but I can honestly tell you, once you become pregnant (which YOU WILL!), the importance of your status at work will dissipate and the satisfaction you’ll get from giving them the Royal Salute (2 fingered gesture) matches no other :D

Jan, EXCELLENT news on the weight loss!! It sounds like you’ll be going out to buy some new togs yourself, as the old ones won’t fit anymore  Angela, Stacey Marie, Niccy, hoping everything’s going well for you girls, keep us posted.

How am I feeling??? Good question, I feel as if I’ve just been ***** slapped by god. You’d think he’d have better things to do than torture me in his spare time. What am I talking about???? Long story short: 2 days ago spent 8 hours in ER crippled with pain and profuse vaginal bleeding, U/S showed I have a subchorionic bleed (a tear which causes bleeding in the folds of the placenta in the uterus), nothing can be done about it but it's self healing. It's underneath the sack of the baby so it is not bothering the baby at all, the only effect is the excruciating pain for me. The heartbeat was strong and the baby was bigger by more than 1 week then it should have been. Dh and I were almost in tears when we saw the little guy on U/S, his/her head, body, arms, legs are clearly visible and looked like he/she was reaching out for something. I have refused to take any form of pain killers because of the babe, all the nurses and docs thought I was crazy, as most cases of this are knocked out for the day but I’m just taking it easy now. No choice, in SO much pain!!!! It’s like experiencing Egg Collection with no meds, every 5 mins for 40 seconds. There’d better be a reason for all this pain….Like me giving birth to the next Macaulay Caulkin or Shirley Temple

Hi Girls...scan went well -we saw the sac and RE said everything is progressing "normally". Scary high HCG levels though - double time=32 hours, HCG 21 days after EC = 8699.43 (I was looking for something around 2500). I guess I would worry if they were too low as well. I am off to Dubai in a couple...I wish you all the best week :D

I12b - Take it easy. I am sorry you are in so much pain...but the baby is safe :D Do they know what caused the tear? Good for you on not taking pain killers...you will be ready for child birth! (au naturale of course :D )

LisaB and MLG - Awesome news on follies and eggs! You both must be so relieved.

Niccy - Way to go on the injection. Did you do it yourself? My DH is horrified of needles so I did them all myself...not too bad.

Danielle - Usually after the first scan it is about 8 days...but everyone is so different. My first IVF was 8 days, this last one was 22 days (but I was oversupressed so don't let this scare you). When they do the bloods they are looking for hormone levels...for EC your oestrogen should be about 200-300 per follie (again all clinics are different), the also check LH (to make sure you won't ovulate early)...don't worry about your bloods and the numbers...let the clinic worry about it :D

Jan - Good for you on losing weight! I am sure you feel better...and always helps the state of mind....but you don't want to lose too much weight....you are on the 2ww so you will probably gain it back with your BFP :D

Hi to everyone...gotta run!

Big hugs!

Hi guys,

Have been down in Cornwall so off line for a week - not even mobile service except when standing on one leg in the corner of the bedroom

So pleased for you Eminde, two babies - fingers crossed it all goes well.

I-1-2-B , my next ultrasound is on 11/04. They don't do a scan here until 18-20 weeks so decided to go private for a 12 week one.
I am pleased you came ot a decision about your friend. It can feel like such a harsh thing to do but is better in the long run. Take care of yourself, what a bummer of a thing to happen. Glad the little one is ok. Meditation can help with natural pain relief so could be worth a shot!

Hope everyone else is doing well and life is being good.

Hey Everyone!

I had my scan this morning and Im waiting for the official call this afternoon. But from all the numbers they were spitting out looks like I have 14 Follies over 10mm and 7 under 10mm. Or so she said..

Also remember that Intern I told you all about before.. HAHA he came in today.. He was so funny.. The new doctor that came in introduced herself (her name was Danielle) and started to introduce him.. So I pipped in.. Yes we are practically dating from my last scan. He turned about 20 shades of red.. haha.. but I got a hell of a giggle!

I will give the official info when I get the call today. But I guess somethings going on from what they said..

Also I saw some peole talking about drinking gatoraid to prevent OHSS ( i think thats how its spelled) whats the story with that? I love gatoraid and I would be happy to drink it if I need to prevent something.

Hugs to everyone!

Danielle

Hi everyone. Hope the weekend treated you well.

Jan - good job on the working out. I try to exercise a few times a week but have backed off due to advice from my doc. Plus I pulled a hamstring in my right leg so I have enjoyed laying on the couch, letting dh wait on me while I let my eggs "cook".

I12b - our friend that is in the hospital - well i am afraid things do not look good. He is my dh's dearest friend, he was the best man in our wedding. He has a wife and 2 daughters but has fallen on some hard times in the fast few years and, unfortunately, has become an alcoholic. He already had some medical issues with his digestive system and I am afraid that the alcohol has only made it worse. Now he has cirrosis (i know I spelled that wrong) of the liver and he is on a waiting list for a donor. However, they will not give him a liver until he has been sober for 6 months. He really is a great person who has lost his way and we are praying hard for him to make it through this.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal - I can imagine you were pretty scared through it all. What caused the tear? I am glad things are going to be okay and I admire you for saying no to pain meds.

Traci - everything is looking great for you - wonderful news? So how many do you think you are carrying around in there? :)

Niccy - welcome to the rollarcoaster. I found that the injections got easier each time. I have no trouble giving myself shots, but I have trouble getting my blood drawn. Weird, isn't it? Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing.

Well I have 9 follicles now and I am disappointed that there aren't more but I guess 9 is good. 3 are over 18mm, and they want 4 to be that size before they do EC. The discouraging news is that they discovered that my left tube has filled with fluid. This can be toxic to embryos and it decreases my chances of IVF working. If this cycle fails, I will probably have to have surgery to remove the tube before i do another cycle. I must say I am feeling pretty frustrated today. The doctors still seem positive so I am trying to be but is hard right now. They are supposed to call me this afternoon and it is looking like EC will be Thursday.

Hello to everyone. Hope things are good!

Hello Ladies,

First, great job on all the follies Lisa and Danielle!!! That's fantastic!!! Will do a little follicle dance to keep them coming! 8)

Danielle, Love that you had some flirtatious "fun" at the hospital -- how hilarious to cause that intern to blush! I've also heard that gatorade does wonders -- I think because it helps to keep things moving along in there.
Take it easy!

And Lisa, will keep fingers crossed that the tubal situation does not interfere with IVF. It's a great sign that the docs are so positive -- you keep up that PMA too my dear!!! And sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's situation -- how is DH dealing with everything? You two sounds like you are really giving your friend and his family the support and friendship they need right now. Please take good care of yourselves as well in the process.

Tracii -- Have a wonderful time in Dubai. Can't wait to hear all about it. Could you pease zap a little sun and warm weather to me across the thread????

I12b -- Oh, how scary!!! I'm so glad to hear that you and the little one are safe -- you are one strong and brave woman. Bravo on saying no to those meds! Hope that creative visualization, meditation, maybe even celebrity gossip, has been distracting you from the pain. And thank you so much for putting a big smile on my face with your wisdom and wit about my job issues -- just imagining giving that two finger salute to this job has really helped me get through a few really difficult days.

Jan -- Congratulations on the weight loss -- and moreover, on getting/staying fit!!! You are an inspiration to us all!

Niccy -- Well done with that injection! Isn't it amazing what one can accomplish with deep breathing? Are you injecting in the belly or the thigh? By yourself or is DH doing the deed? With each one, you are another day closer....!

MLG -- any updates on that lovely dozen? :)

Eminde, Saraid, Stacey Marie - hope you all are doing well! And big hugs to anyone else I missed.

As for me, I keep taking the pill every night and am on an immune boosting program prescribed by my nutritionist that involves lots of probiotic supplements. SIL arrives on Wednesday and, ahem, no, we have not told MIL about IVF yet. The timing never seems right and don't know if there will be another opening on this trip....sigh.

On a lighter note, DH and I are considering a quickie holiday before the next cycle begins -- some time away, sans family and just us is very appealing.

Hope everyone is well!

xx

Morning everyone

Sorry I have not posted for a few days but I am trying to keep calm during 2ww and so decided to ignore this site for a few days as it does tend to concentrate your mind on what is happening. Also we have been very busy at work as had a big mothers day lunch to do on Sunday. Told DH that if the IUI works this time the baby will be a fighter as I have been running round that much. Also trying not to lift things but when you are that busy you keep forgetting.

Hope you are all OK. i12b sorry to hear about the pain. I know what you mean about the pain. I have not taken any pain killers since I started IUI and DH moaned at me when I had a massive headache but wouldn't take any just in case. Well done

Eminde, Wow twins

Jan - How is my fellow 2wwer Do you get to test on day 14. We have been told to wait until day 19 to make sure the HCG injection is out of my system. Mind you AF is due on day 14 so if she doesn't arrive then we might have an idea. The other day I had a look at the pregnancy caluclator on this site and if this treatment works then we will be due about a week before christmas. DH thinks that it will definately work this time as we are manically busy in the last 2 weeks before christmas doing christmas dinners so it would be just like me to want to give birth then. We work joking the other day that if labour started when he had lots of customers in he would just tell me to hang on until all of the turkey had been sent out. I think he has got a few shocks coming.

To everyone else good luck and hope you are all well. Sorry can't post any more as I have got to go to work.

Angela - only 1 week for you now. Nice that you and DH can see the lighter side of all this - well done for staying +ve! I know it's always hard to reduce your workload but I do hope that you find some time for relaxation too.

sml - ooh, a break for you and DH sounds a lovely idea!! Any thoughts where you'll go?

LisaB75 - well done on your follies - great size too! Do hope that you will go ahead with EC. Sending you lots of PMA!!

Danielle - good luck for tomorrow's scan. Does sound like you are well on course. Just a question: what is this gatorade that a lot of people seem to be drinking??? I've never heard of it.

Saraid - nice to hear your news. Good luck for next week's scan.

Traci - am glad your scan went well. I can't help with the HCG numbers though - I never know mine and always forget to ask. If the docs are happy then I guess you can be too. Enjoy your hol!

I12b - what an awful experience; you must have been so worried. I hope that knowing bubs is OK does alleviate the pain a bit. Did they tell you how long you will have this pain? Hope you are lying in bed being waited on.

Niccy - congratulations! At the end of this cycle you'll be an injection whizz! Sending the follie fairy your way this week.

Stacy Marie - hope your migraine went away and doesn't come back... Sounded like the stress had built up during your busy week and was coming out as soon as you relaxed at the weekend. Take care of yourself.

jan33 - great to hear your news: we missed you!! Not much longer for you now. Keep up your PMA!

MLG - Congrats on your egg count! Hope ET when well. Glad to see you are resting.

All's fine with me. Got my UK fix this weekend as had a long weekend in Norfolk for Mother's Day. Counting down the days till the 6th

Wish you all a lovely week.
