Hi Vicky

Im so glad you had the test done now. It just shows that urine tests are not reliable for detecting it. What has your midwife said???

Take care and hope you get the info re antibiotics soon.

Love Kim

Hi, at least you had the test and although theres only a small chance of baby getting infected you now know your baby defineately wont get it and so its 1 less thing to worry about!
I had anti-biotics but I dont know what they were called sorry. I just know they went in thru a drip in my arm!
On the plus side, when you go into labour, if you're contractions are far apart instead of sending you home to wait they speed up your labour so that they get the drugs into you on time, so there shouldnt be a labour of more than 24 hours at least. (my first was 48 hours!)
Anyway good luck HTH

Hey Vicky,

Read your thread with interest! Thank goodness you did the test. Could you imagine if it had not been detected in your urine, and anything happened to your precious cargo?!!!?!?!!

Just goes to show that you cannot take everything you are told as gospel, if you have a gut feeling about something, it is always worth challenging it if you are not happy. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Hi,

I am replying on behalf of my wife Vickyp as we are still without internet access at home following our recent house move.

The midwife did not so much "eat her words"; but stressed that the odds were that they do a lot of deliveries with Streb B present, without knowing; and that now they do know we had to go to Bath.

She did arrange a consultation at Bath at very short notice which was good.

The Bath consultant was sympathetic saying there had been a lot of recent press about it. He also played down the risk but said that they were obliged to treat it once it has been detected. They will use penicillin.

Thanks for your support.
