Has anyone had a HSG X-ray. I was told that this is one of the tests that I need to have. Something about putting dye into the tubes? Could anyone give me some more information.

Thank you

Tracy
Hi Tracy,

I had a HSG X ray about 2 years ago, it took about 20 mins. I went into an x ray room where they inserted a thin tube into my uterus, which I could see on the x ray screen, they then inflated the tube to open up fallopian tube and inserted dye, I could see the fallopian tube filling with dye. They did this on both sides. Dye only filled one side at the time of the xray, the doctor said it was because one side had become inflammed, this was confirm when I had a laparoscopy later. I had no sedative, the pain was like a bad period pain at the time of the xray only lasted for 20mins and had mild discomfort for the rest of the day, but was fine the next day.

Good luck and I hope this helps
Love Lynne
Hi Tracy,

One word of advice - make sure you take your own panty liner with you. There may be slight bleeding afterwards, but the ones they give you at the hospital are the size of bricks!! Not pleasant!!

I also found that it hurt a bit - but it wasn't unbearable. They may advice you to take some pain killers before you have it.

Good luck,

Alison
