Change in Levels after Positive IVF

Post by klor »

Hello All~I am new to this site and was hoping somone could put my mind at ease. I had 2 embryos transfered on May 2nd and received a positive pregnancy test from my doctor on Monday, May 15th :D

I had some follow up bloodwork on Wednesday, May 17th and the nurse called me and asked me to come back on Friday for additional bloodwork because some of my levels are rising, but others are not rising like they would expect? They did not give me specific information and now I am going crazy waiting until tomorrow.

I have also had bloating since my transfer, is this normal?

Klor,

It's hard to tell what the nurse could have been talking about. Your HCG and progesterone levels should be rising - but my prog. level actually dropped after I got pregnant - which is why I have to continue with the prog. injections until May 25. If I were you, I would call them and ask for more detail. I would be anxious too.

If your HCG is rising slowly - don't freak out. I have read of a lot of women on here who's levels were low at first - yet they went on to have perfectly normal healthy pregnancies. All of our bodies are different so it's hard to say what is going on.

For piece of mind - I would call back and ask some questions.

As far as the bloating goes - yes, it is very normal. And it only gets more intense as your pregnancy progresses. So I guess it's a good thing :)

I hope it all works out for you.

Lisa B - thank you so much for the repsonse. I actually did call them back and they said my HCG levels on Monday were 419 and the levels on Wednesday were 694. So, they are increasing, but not quite doubling. Which is why they are having me back for additional bloodwork. I hate to be such a nervous patient, but it is nice to see I am not alone!

I am anxiously waiting my first ultrasound on May 30th!

Thank you again and best wishes to you
