Pessary Question

Post by spongebob »

Hello,

I have a question on the pessaries you take after the treatment?

How long should you take them for? Start ET day until...
What exactly do they do and are for?
Should you carry on taking them if you get a positive test and how long for?

Many Thanks.

Bob.

Yes, you keep taking them. I had to take them until I was 14 weeks pregnant. Most people don't take them that long. I've heard anywhere from 6 weeks pregnant up to what I had. They help your lining and help prevent miscarrige...it gives your body progesterone it needs. So yes, if you get pregnant, you get to keep using them for awhile!

Oh, some people do the progesterone shots instead. Some people do both. I did the both the shots & pessaries. Stopped the shots around 10 weeks....and the pessaires around 14 weeks.

I kept taking them until the end of my 10th week. I was very hesitant to go off of them because then it meant that it was all left to my body...and I had no faith in that...Each clinic has differing opinions on this though and I'd just follow their advice - they know your situation best. Oh I took the pessaries....unpleasant but it got the job done!!!
