it varies from what you need.
the meds are what hit us hard. they cost alot.
we have spent over 70,000.
but at some clinic i have seen if you are under 40 8,000
but that doesnt include tests and there are all kinds of other things that you might need. make sure you go over all of that with your doctor..
and the billing person...
good luck
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
It really does depend on what country you are in, what clinic you go to. Mine was approximately £5,000 but then if you include the rail fare and car park to attend all the appointments you can add another £500 on top of that. The menopur itself was approximately £1,600. I got everything done at the clinic. If your GP is good maybe he could do all the inital tests for you on the NHS (assuming you are in the UK) - they are tests like, HIV, Hep B & C, chlymadia (can't spell), all these tests have to be done before most clinics will start treatment.
As for ICSI I'm afraid I don't know much about that. Your best bet is to have a search on the internet. That's how I found my clinic.
Best of luck

Me 35 DH 37 1st IVF ET 27 June - BFP!!!!
Ellie was born on 11 December 2006, 14 weeks early!
insurance covered my IVf and meds, but not DH's Tesa and Icsi. They also dont cover cryo so we have spent about 7000 out of pocket. rest was covered. good luck!
Just added up all our receipts this cycle and it is approximately £6,200 that doesn't include last week's scan nor the one in a fortnight which is another £200 each, oh and the gestone injections which have now gone from £2 an ampoule to £5.65! So I reckon in total ours is in the region of £7,000 and that's not taking into account the parking, train, loss of earnings etc...

I am going private at Hammersmith in London as 40 so cannot get any help on nhs.
I got all the investigations paid for off my work health insuarnce cover so that saved us about £1,000 and they paid for my lap which saved another £2,000. Worth trying to find out of you can get anything paid under nhs (if you are in UK) or insurance???
We did straight ivf (icsi costs more) which cost around £2,500. Another £500 to freeze the extra eggs. Then drugs on top. The cost of the drugs varies a lot depending on the dosage that you require. Mine were quite low compared to some ladies (say £500) but that was as I was on the lowest dose of stimulates.
I have to pay for my tubal op next week which is nearly £4,000.
Not a cheap business but hoping that it will all pay off with a BFP.
Thank you sooooo much for all your replies, i'm truly grateful. Sounds like so much money - and we don't have alot..we will give it a try with the NHS and see what happens, and failing that, we had better start living on porridge!! Much love to all, Sharon xx
In Toronto Canada if you have blocked tubes 60-70% of IVF is covered. The drugs you have to claim through benefits. If you have no coverage it is 4000-6000$ depending on where you go. The meds are 1500 to 2000$. If you have ICSI it is another 1000$.
Cheers Good growing, good dancing, good fertilisation, good sticking
