How long did you wait to tell?

I wanted to know how long after your BFP that you told people. Did you tell shortly after because people know you were using assisted technology or did you wait 3 months just to be on the safe side? Thanks

Only about 10 close family/friends knew I was doing IVF. So I told them the day I knew about my BFP. They kept up with me through the process, so they knew I would know that day. For everyone else, I waited until my 8 week scan (2nd scan) when I found out it was twins. I thought I would wait until 12 weeks....but I just couldn't. I figured if I ended up miscarrying then I'd be ok telling people that. I wouldn't mind the support. So by 8 weeks everyone knew.

Congraats on ur pregnancies...this is a good thread....i am in my 12th week now..i still have not told everyone...only 2-3 close friends and immediate family knows....i have another u/s on the 7th...so am planning to tell everyone after that....infact in a couple of weeks am sure even if i dont say anything people are going to make out...my tummy has started sticking out a bit already..so in a couple of weeks I will not be able to hide it:)

I told my close, close family and friends right away. After I had my first scan at 6 weeks confirming a heartbeat and viable pregnancy - I told some people at work. By 8 weeks - everyone knew.

I was going to wait but I couldn't help myself.

I told my immediate family who knew of my ivf the day of my beat and some really close friends after we were able to see the heartbeat. I still havent made it public but i know for sure with triplets i will not be able to hide it any longer... So i plan on telling everyone in 2 weeks...

I am probably one of those that waited longest to tell most people About 8 people knew when treatment started so i told them when i got my BFP in Feb, i then told 4 work colleagues when i was 16 weeks as one of them told me she was 7 weeks preg, so i felt i had to say something. And then last week i finally told the majority of family and friends at 6 months. I think because i can hide the bump because i am quite overweight, i could get away with it and i reeally enjoyed having this amazing secret So when i did tell people and i was so far along, there was lots of yelling and screeching with delight. those i told earlier on seemed to be more reserved because it was early days and with my past history.

by the way i wont be telling my boss until i am at least 7 and half months pregnant, she is so two faced. And then i may just drop it in conversation with someone that 'i cant wait to go off in 8 weeks for maternity leave'
