About to start my first IUI

I start my 2nd round of Clomid tomorrow (Day 3) and my ultrasound to check the follicle(s) is on 8/21. My octor said that they will give me the Hcg shot the same day and I should plan on the insemination the following day or day after. I have never been through IUI. Could someone please tell me what I can expect? Does it hurt? How long does it take? What are my chances of conceiving? My last Clomid cycle I produced 5 follicled but we still did not achieve pregnancy.
Does IUI work if you have 1 blocked tube? They told me not to worry about that because my "good" side can actually pik up those eggs but I am so unsure at this point.

Hi Cori,
Don't worry. IUI is not at all painfull. In my case by the time I thought what Dr. will do it was already done. takes 1-2min and its done.

I myself have gone through 3 IUI's. I didn't know that Dr. should do IUI after 35hrs of HCG injection.

In my case they did after 24hrs and it didn't work. Please check with ur Dr. when will they do it. Other reason it didn't work could be that I've High FSH problem therefore poor egg quality but timing is very critical.

I hope that you have been blessed with a child and if not yet that you soon will be. Maybe you can help me with another question. I am on cycle day 3 today and started my 2nd round of Clomid today.I am set to go back to check my follicles and receive my Hcg shot on cycle day 13. Without Clomid, my day of ovulation usually was about day 11 or 12. Does your ovulation day change when you are on Clomid? Last cycle I started Clomid on day 4 and on day 12 went to check my follicles and had 5 developed ones. They gave me the Hcg shot and told me to have intercourse 24 hours later. I have been wondering if they have been giving me the wrong times. What do you think?
So far they told me that I will probably have the IUI done the day after my ultrasound.

Hi Cori
Don't worry about IUI - its just like having a smear test really. You can feel the tube entering the cervix which was always a relief as you know its in the right place!
All my IUI were always done 36 hours after HCG. I've got PCOS and now on IVF, as they weren't confident of my ovulation.
I had clomid with IUI for 4 tries - it definietely changed my ovulation date: it was irregular and up to 21 days without, but with clomid - ovulation in 14 days virtually every time. Hope this helps.
