test on 1 October

Post by Claire C »

Hi,

New to the site, I had a bit of difficulty logging on but I have been reading all the recent threads and found them both informative and comforting.

This is my second IVF, after 3 failed IUI, and this time I made it to ET! The 2WW is all new to me and its been comforting and reassuring to know that a lot of what I'm feeling is perfectly normal.

I'm due to test on 1 October and not sure if they tell you there and then or do you have to phone for the results? Or does this vary from clinic to clinic? I'm attending the New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Any help would be appreciated,

Good luck to everyone,

Claire
Hi Claire, welcome to the site. I'm 2 days behind you (4th cycle, 2nd ET) and I test on 3rd October. I think it's different for every clinic as I have to do a home test and other people go in for blood tests. Not sure what they do in Edinburgh but I am sure there is someone else out there who will be able to help. Come and join the SCB's (September cycle buddies) everyone is around the same time and it helps so much to have other people going through the same as you are.
Lots of love
Kat xx

Claire,
I'm also at Little France. They take your blood on the day you've been given, then you phone for the results about lunchtime. If you can't wait that long - you can also do a HPT that morning (we did), but remember, they are not always that accurate if your reading is low.
Good luck! :-)
Zoe x

Kat/Zoe,

Thanks for your replies, I did think that I'd probably have to phone, now that's going to be a nerve wracking morning! Not sure about testing at home, I'd rather just let them tell me - its amazing how ridiculously superstitious you get with all this treatment!

I'm finding it difficult to keep occupied, dh has been excellent - not had to do anything (its one way of getting out the dishes I suppose)! I found a cross stitch sampler that I'd been given years ago and have started on that - I know its a little sad but anything goes when it comes to keeping your mind busy - that's when I'm not at the loo all the time!

Thanks for your good wishes, best of luck to both of you and everyone testing soon,

Love,

Claire
-x-
