INFO NEEDED! Does husband or wife incur IUI cost?

Post by ginatet »

I have a question...

Me and my DH have separate insurance. I am going to be scheduling my first IUI next month, and I am wondering which one of us will incurr the expenses. Will I incurr all of them or will a part be billed to my DH? The reason I ask is because my insurance will cover this, my husbands won't. He's already had several tests done and none of it was covered. Anyone have a similar story?

Hi Ginatet,

I hope you are doing well. How I understand it is that usally your insurance is your primary and your DH's insurance would be your secondary (as long as he has you listed as a dependent eligible for coverage). All expenses incurred for services done to you will be charged to your insurance company fist then whatever they do not cover can be charged to your DH's insurnce company to see if they will pick up anything. Any sevices preformed on your DH will be charged to his insurance first ant then yours second (only if he is covered as a dependent under your insurance also). This is how I understand it to be but you should definately call the member services number on the back of your insurance card or speak to the HR person at your company to make sure this is the case. The last thing you want is any surprises when you go to pay.

Good luck with your upcoming cycle.

All my best,
Nance
