me:abnormal period and dh:already had vasectomy

I'm new here and just hoping that anyone can answer my question & curiosity.

I'm 24 and my dh is 48. I don't have a normal monthly period at all and I only menstrate if i will take a medicine (provera). My dh already had his vasectomy many yrs. ago. We are planning to see a doctor and have our 1st IVF try by next month.

I wonder if we can use our own egg and sperm cells despite in our situation? cuz i really want to use our own rather than donation.

I am kind of in the same situation you are. Though I menstrate every month at the same time on the nose (without meds), DH (45) has had a vasectomy over 10 years ago. For financial reasons, we have chosen natural IUI with DS and have had 5 failed cycles. Each cycle has been consistant and I am perfectly healthy to conceive, only no luck yet. Yes, IVF with DH sperm is very much an option...just several thousands of dollars more then if you use DS.

My DH and I are almost in a similar situation as you are. I am annovulatory. I may get 4 periods in a year, but I don't necessarily ovulate. Although DH is 27, he has congenital absence of the vas defrens, which is basically equilvilant to having a vasectomy. Dh will be having MESA done next month which is the surgical removal of the sperm from the epidyimis, then we will do IVF with ICSI. You should meet with a fertility center and them I am sure they will refer you to a urologist. Best of luck![quote][/quote]

I was in simialr situation except I have regular periods and DH went through reversal which then blocked which is why we did IVF/ICSI. I am not pregnant so it works. Our doctor answered everything for us.
