Hi All

Just a quick one - because DH already thinks I have a serious addiction problem to this message board!

Erin- well done on your self-injecting!

Aunty - I can't believe you are a Brummie - that's about 40 mins from me! I'm glad your scan looked good - fingers crossed for bloods to be ok!

Jordan - congratulations - sending you lots of sticky baby dust!

Tanya- Hope yor lining grows thick and comfy for those lovely embies!

Sophie - that makes much more sense! A 16 day wait would have killed me - 2ww is bad enough! I've already got my autoinjector ( for my menopur) I have to say it really doesn't look too bad! I have 24 injections in total (at 1st I thought I had 48, but turns out you have 2 ampoules in one - so that's much better!) That's it for me for injections too - I also have suppositories -Nice!

Down-regging for me is going fine - a few head aches - but I don't know whether that's because I am back at work!

TTFN

Hi Ladies,

Happy Friday!

Shantala.... Try not to be afraid of the needles. The ice totally helps with the prog. shots and the belly shots don't hurt much if you are able to squeeze a little belly fat and give the shot in that. Fortunately, I get allergy shots once a month, so shots don't bother me, however, I'm just one big pin cushion.

Sophie... Sadly I have BOTH supps and shots for progesterone! Not looking forward to starting either one of those things up again, but just keep the 'end state' in mind and it makes it all easier. I use Follistim for stimming which is a penlike device as well. The bad news with that one for me is that I'll be on such a high dosage, that it takes 3 shots to get all the med in. At one pt. in my cycle I'm up to 5 shots in my belly and one in my butt! If things go according to plan, my ER and ET should be the second week in Feb. Starting Lupron 1/12.

EMS... Congrats on starting stimming on Monday, it's all around the corner.

Aunty... Yay, sounds like you're in the clear for the next step! Can't wait to follow your cycle, you take such good care of all of us. Sorry I never heard of antrils. I googled it and nothing came up.

hugs,
Ange

Shantala, I only have one shot next Wednesday to shut me down, then eostrogen tablets, and the prog suppositories at transfer, FET protocol is totally different and much easier. I took the nasal spray, got to be better than shots all the time, although if your like me after a week you really hate it but it works well, I then used Gonal f 25mg for stimming, what are you using?, i was very lucky hardley any discomfort and i got 20 eggs. Hope you have similar success, it feels so good to get started.

Aunty, so your a brummie i guess DH is american, do you love living out there i loved it and would go back in ashot, but after IVF as its way expensive over there. Hope you are able to get started, and we can share our 2ww together,

To everyone else i will have more time soon to keep up with you all, but in the meantime sticky baby dust to you all.

Aunty: only have a second, but saw your ? and thought i would respond real quick... antral follicles are small (2-8mm) and are o/w known as "resting" follicles (that is, until we start shooting up...then the "resting" hopefully ends for most of them :D ). It is one main predictor of the # of follicles that could possibly be stimulated and mature leading to retrieval during that IVF cycle (i think the other main ones are day 3 FSH, BMI and age). Hope that helps.... AND Congrats on a good scan! Fingers crossed for your bw!

Hope everyone is well... more personals later...

Ems and Emma, good luck with the stimming your really moving on now.

Sophie, i am doing FET so i only do 1 shot and thats at clinic on Wednesday.2 weeks later i start eostrogen and ET shoulb be anytime after 8 day scan, but due to having a reclined cervix i have a consultant transfer so usually end up having to wait a few extra days, as they don't work weekends, so i think transfer will be either 2nd or 5th Feb if i react same as last time.

Aunty glad you got the all clear to start.
everyone else i need a notepad to make notes, i will get organised and post more tomorrow.
got to go cook dinner.

Hello!

Lunch break! :) Ah, I wouldn't do that 5 days a week, but spending my Friday lunches here in this quet office all by myself with nice music and the computer is just nice sometimes!

Bec Checked your piiiiictuuuuure! My, aren't you the sportive girl! And your DH too! :D What a lovely smile you have! Hehehehe I tried to picture you with your two beautiful babies growing inside and... got emotional, so I stopped doing that, but I'm still happy for you though, lol!

And about the acupuncturist, you're right; people will judge as long as there will be other people around (that's why I'll always have a job no matter what, lol). But in his case, it's more because he passed a very quick judgement, and on the phone in addition. He asked me when I was available, and I told him that, given that I have 5 jobs right now, it was better if he told me his availabilities. Right away, he said something like "Ooooh ok, so I take it you're overworked, huh?" That's what I didn't like. The 5 jobs sound impressive, but I work about 36 to 45 hours a week big max. So it's not the end of the world; it's the lack of routine, working in two different offices in the same day at least once a week and working evenings and Saturday mornings/early afternoons that kill me. I was promised a position in the hospital full time with clinical and research time that would being somewhere around the beginning of the summer... so my situation is not ideal, but it's temporary. I'm looking forward to have this position like you wouldn't believe! ;) (and then right after I begin I'll be on maternity leave -PMA-, but eh, that's life!)

Emma Hello there! Looks like we're downregging at the same time! I began my shots on the 3rd! :D 20 totsicles! That's amazing! You must have had one hell of an ER last time, whew! Good for you, though! It must be reassuring, in a way, to know that you have so many. When do you think your FET will be?

ssalgado Ooooh I did not know that your first IVF cycle was such a success story! Oooooh! It lifts my spirits a great deal sweetie! Thanks for mentioning your son! Or little monster... And I send lots of "patience dust" your way for the waiting till Lupron... *hugs*

Ange Sorry to hear that you'll be stuck with both injections AND suppositories! My friend who is due in March and is about your age also had up to 5 injections a day at some point. And her skin just did not absorb progesterone as well, so her tush was apparently covered in bumps. But, you're right; keep your eyes on the prize! About your dates, though, I'm a little confused. I thought you had frozen embryos left? You're doing a whole cycle again? Did I miss something and they'll take all your frozen embryos for genetic testing? :( I thought that kind of thing could be done on embryos without disrupting the transfer! At least that's what my clinic told me...

Charlie, don't worry about being addicted. As long as you don't turn away from your friends and relatives, I think you should come here as often as you'd like. On Wednesday, I was discussing a study I found while surfing for info on IVF with my husband, and he told me that I should stop looking for so much info because the info I get is sometimes contradictory. I'm not even an addict, but he's the complete opposite; I'm not too too sure he could explain the whole IVF process in as much details as I could. The same goes for the forum; he told me I should not spend too much time on it. What some people just don't get is that, while we have to be patient and wait an excruciatingly long time during the IVF process, coming here to post, read, find info on the net and such, gives us the impression to DO SOMETHING. At least in my case, it helps with the impatience by giving me something to do that's directly related to my IVF process. I'll check baby names websites, look for tips for breastfeeding, morning sickness, I'll check a pregnancy calendar for singleton or twins... and so on. Not to unhealthy extents, certainly not every day, but just to feel proactive.

And of course, it's always amazing to be able to come here and talk about IVF without worrying about the fact that my interlocutor(s) might not want to hear about it... ;)

I'm glad your injections are not as bad as you thought; half the injections makes a big difference indeed! Whew! And about the suppositories... well, I believe TansRN was the last one I discussed this with but... hehehe you begin a cycle saying bye-bye to nasty AF... but then you end up wearing pads all the way through your progesterone suppositories phase, which might last three months if you're lucky! And you know what? I was told that one of the side effects of Lupron (and ovarian vacation in general) is spotting... sometimes so heavy that it's like having AF again! LOL what a joy!

Aunty Ooooh I'm glad your check went well! *does happy dance* I hope the blood test results come back soon and fine and that you can keep going full speed sweetie!

Take care guys! (whoops... I wrote a novel again...)

Hi Sophie,

I only had 1 frozen embryo, not enough to do an ET according to my Dr. So I need to go through the whole process again to increase my chances. I responded really well last time to meds so keeping my fingers crossed for similiar results (just not the same end result  ).

As far as the genetic testing goes, they biopsy the embryo (even the frozen one after it's thawed) and then send those cells, not the whole embryo for the genetic testing. The transfer will happen day 5 assuming they are o.k. v. day 3 since the testing needs to happen on day 3.

I meant to address your fear of morning sickness in an earlier post. I am petrified to throw up! Seriously paralyzes me, so I can relate to being worried about that. My sister is like I am and says, a 'normal' person would've thrown up, but she didn't when she was pregnant. It's such an issue for me that I started to sweat just reading everyone's posts about having the stomach bug. ick!

hugs,
Ange
