My french doctor said that the baby aspirin thing is a myth and that it has not been proven to be effective.
I lost my baby this november at 12 weeks. The D&C showed many blood clots, and I also passed blood clots after the D&C.
I am starting a new cycle soon. I would like to take baby aspirin, as so many articles on the web says that it can help follies growing, thickening lining, implantation and then prevent m/c.
I also think that even if it doesnt help, it cannot harm.
But I dont know if i should do that without my doc agreeing! And i dont know when to start?? And if I get pregnant when to stop??
And for the porgesterone: I was told to stop around 8 weeks. I had some left so I continued until week 9 then stopped. When we realised at the 12 weeks scan that there was no more H/B, the doc told me that the foetus was a 9 weeks size baby.
Until when in your pregnancy did you take some progesterone??
Thanks for any help!

Hi Souris
I am sorry that i can't give any advice on the baby asprin however i am living in Spain and my doctor has advised me to take progesterone until my next scan when i will be just over 12 weeks. I think everywhere have different protocols when it comes to this, reading on the forum everyone seems to stop at different points.
Wishing you all the best in 2007 and hope you get your dream.

Just fyi, my RE has had me on baby aspirin since stims and I will stay on it until the middle of the 2nd trimester. He says it's not only for clots but to reduce chance of pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) later in pregnancy??? Regarding projesterone, I stay on PIO nightly until week 10, as well as one nightly progesterone suppository until week 10. That's just my experience here. I agree with the other ladies that the practices on both aspirin and progesterone seem to vary widely between infertility practices.
Also, fyi, in my first cycle, I had a bfp and later a m/c in week 8 (found out in week 9.) I too had a clotting separation of the placenta from the wall of the uterus, but my RE said that had nothing to do with the m/c. He was right - we had the baby tested and it had trisomy, which is why he died. The clot which caused the small separation was secondary. I've had a small one with this pregnancy as well, although it seems to be nearly healed up now.
I don't know if this has helped at all and I can imagine how confusing it is. The one thing I will say is that I have not seen anything that says there is harm from taking the baby aspirin, so if you wanted to do it, I don't think it could hurt you. I would definitely tell your RE, though because it could impact your treatment. For example, it's important to go off of the aspirin 24 hours prior to your egg retrieval, since aspirin thins the blood and you don't want excessive bleeding at that time. There may be other issues as well.
I really wish you all the best in your next try and hope it will be the successful one for you.
My clinic in Minneapolis recommends baby aspirin. I have been on it since I started IVF treatment. Not sure when I will stop.
My nurse told me yesterday that I will be on Progesterone (IM shots) thr' the 12 th week. They monitored it real carefully by doing blood tests so I trust them.
but i did take the baby asprin, My doc said that it does help with everything that you mentioned.... i would tell your doc that you are taking it, and unless he has strong reasons for you not to take it, then tell him you are going to take it, as it is your body. your future and your cycle....
I would have been on the asprin untill week 14, but i had some spotting and bleeding issues.. so he took me off at 10weeks... as for the projesterone.... i was on the PIO shot for all my pregnancies, and stopped at different times due to the blood work and once it got to a certain level the took me off the PIO, but i stayed on the suppository untill 12-14 week, which is when the placenta takes over for the production of progesterone... blood work does not detect the suppository progesterone, because it is absorbed close to the need and never impacts the blood progesterone level...
hope that you have your dreams come true in 2007!!!!
take care
colleen
I had PIO shots only the night of ET. Then i was on suppositories until week 9.... I was wondering why I did not have any blood done to see the levels, but Colleen answered that thanks!
I think I have made uop my mind and take baby aspirin regardless what my Re says (unless she telld me it is dangerous , but I dont think so)
And if I have the chance to get pregnant again, I will ask her if I can continue the progesterone a bit longer, just to keep my mind at ease.
Thank you all for your kind words
Good luck to all with your treatments or pregnancies
love
