Follow up appointment and feeling better

Hi All Had my follow up appointment yesterday and am actually feeling a bit more positive. We saw a different consultant who was very down to earth, but made me feel a lot better. Basically she said that my embies were really good, and the 9 frosties had all been at 4 cell by the time they froze them, I responded really well to the drugs(almost too well as had threat of OHSS)considering my age(38)and that I should stick with it as I have only done it twice! Almost felt like I was getting a ticking off! Anyway I am having FET naturally in Jan, so looking forward to having a no drug treatment and am just gonna carry on as normal this time, and see if that works?! She said that IVF is a numbers game and you just have to stick with it as it does work. As I am so paranoid about the chances going down after you turn 39 she did a search on the data base for women 38-39 with similar results as me(Eggs and embies) and the pregnancy rate over the last yr was 43%, live birth rate was less but still over 30%, so unless DH had bribed her in advance I am gonna seriously do my best not to give up for the forseeable future. Hope this feeling lasts til January, if not will re read this post to remind myself! Sue xx PS Kat, would be great to meet up in Jan, maybe during the dreaded 2ww! Hi Sue, I'm so glad your follow up went well. I think I will save your post so I can read it when I am having a bad day. They sound like they were really positive and have passed that positiveness (?) on to you (and me too) and 43% makes us sound like we have a chance doesn't it? I'm 38 as well and I too worry about things going downhill after next year. I still have a toilet in my spare room, plumber coming in a couple of weeks - can't wait to go white and chrome instead of beige and avocado (mmmm, tasteful!) Hi The good thing about having frozen embryos is that they stay the same age , when my friend had a positive with her frozen embies she was 38 but they took her baby's messurments scans etc as if it was 3 years younger, so dont worry about getting older . Great news that you are feeling positive and at least you have christmas to keep you ocupied and busy hopefully it will fly by! Take Care Trace x

WOW thanks for that - I too am a youthful 38! And on my third cycle. My consultant was pretty confident, but I am not! So your postie has put a spring in my step. THANKS A LOT - Squew xx
