Hendricks was definitely a projectile vomiter. This started around 3.5 weeks when we switched from BF to just bottle. It would happen everytime we didn't burp him soon enough. Sometimes, several times a day. It was hard to stop to burp him because he would cry, wanting to keep eating. I would swear that the entire bottle had come back out. It never seemed to bother him much. He didn't cry or get scared. In fact, sometimes he looked a little relieved like "oh, my tummy feels so much better now."
As you have a family history with more complications, you'll want to keep a close eye on your little one. As for us, we just got used to doing LOTS of laundry. He never had any problems growing or gaining weight from it so we were never too concerned, although the first few times really had me worried. Now at four months he has out grown it.
Try keeping your little one more propped up during feeds, and try to burp at least half way through. Hope this helps!!!
One of my twins, anias did that for a few weeks, however it did not affect his weight gain..we had to burp him more often. He's now 3 1/2 weeks and no projectile vomitting
