First Ultrasound

I'm having my 1st ultrasound on 3.23.07. I will be 5w3d pregnant or in my 6 week. I'm so nervous because I feel like AF is coming at any minute. No major cramps but just slight lower tummy ache is the best way to describe it. Im just praying that they see the yolk sac in the uterine on Friday. My due date will be November 21.

I'm so nervous about how I'm feeling. I've had one miscarriage so every pain and tummy ache scares me. Is anyone else having the same symptoms I am?

Becky,

The symptoms are normal. It does feel like AF and it feels like that for months too. I've had a few miscarriages too and can be very cautious but I always found that a very strong lower back pain was an indication that something is not right. The rest is just nature working its best.

Best of luck with your scan. Everything will be fine.

Oh thank you so much for responding so quickly! Is it true the chance of miscarriage goes down considerably after you hear the heartbeat? I never made it that far during my last miscarriage.

my first u/s is scheduled for next week and I too am freaking out over every tiny pain. I've been having a lot of cramping but my doctor says that i only should be worried if the pain is doubling me over or if i have spotting/bleeding, which i haven't had either yet. My pain feels more like cramps though than a tummy ache. right now i am 5 and a half weeks pregnant. I'm sure we'll both feel much better once we have our ultrasounds ! I was very excited to see that we have similar numbers! My ET was on 3/1/07 and we transferred 2 embryos. My first Beta was 10p3dt and was 117, two days later up to 275. Our first ultrasound will be on Thurs. I wish you the best!

Oh my goodness we are almost identical in numbers!!! How are you feeling. Your ultrasound is almost here...I can not wait to go on Friday!! Good luck and please post and let me know how you make out.

I am feeling fine actually! I do not have any symptoms or so I don't think. This will be my 2nd pregnancy, but our son is almost 8...it's been awhile! I am taking 1cc pio in the am and suppository at night. Other than the huge lumps in my backside, I'm doing great! We are so excited! Is this your first pregnancy? I see that it's your first IVF, my second. 1st my beta was 13, then 26, then 52. Sadly, no baby. This feels much different, we are very optimistic...as should you!!

Today we saw a perfectly round yolk sac! In fact the PA said my uterus was boring, it looked so good! My numbers jumped up to 4675 from 275 in what, 8 days? She said that it was great and we should hear a heatbeat next week!

My discomfort ended up being due to some fluid in right ovary and a couple cysts, should I worry?

How are you feeling? No signs of pregnancy for me yet, can't wait though...isn't that funny! Take care! I am hoping the very best for you!

Maxsmom and all,

Just got back from my 1st ultrasound. One perfect yolk sac and one in question. The RE wasn't sure if it was a bleed in the uterus from the embryo trying to attach or if it is the second embryo trying to attach or is attached and not quite progressing as strongly yet. Either way she said we definitely have one and it looks perfect. She told me that if I had any spotting to contact them right away and that it would not affect the other embryo. So I'm relieved somewhat!!!

Next ultrasound is April 2nd and will be looking for a heartbeat! Gosh 10 days, how will I ever make it through!!!

I was having some pain in the ovaries as you were describing and I am extremely bloated. I mentioned this to my RE today and he said that it was to be expected and that it will probably take a few more weeks yet for all the fluid to subside from the ovaries. They told me not to worry about all the twinges and cramps coming from both sides, and that it is just the ovaries releasing the fluid and returning to their normal state. I'm ready for this to end. I think my friends are looking at me like gosh she has gained a lot of weight. We haven't told anyone except my parents about the pregnancy or that we were even attempting IVF.

So when is your second ultrasound?? Good luck and let me know how your doing.

Anyone ever transfer 2 and have one not showing a yolk sac yet, but when they returned for the 2nd ultrasound it was present with a beating heart. My husband and I would love twins, but we are just to pleased to have one progressing well!!!

Hi becky, how many weeks and days pregnant are you now?? I am 5 weeks 2 but have no scan until 9 weeks pregnant!! I am thinking of paying privately to get it done and just wanted to know how far on you are as you got a good scan picture etc.

also what were your HCG on day 21?? Mine were 2180 and I have to ring up for todays at 2 pm today so am hoping they will have gone up again.

I think this is even worse than the 2 week wait!!

Got my blood results back it has more than doubled to 4520. Hurray!!!

Your numbers are fantastic!!!! My RE stops doing beta's after the 2nd one comes back as doubling. My RE sees you one week after getting your 2nd beta test. I am also 5w 2d or in my 6th week. If I were you I would go in and pay to get an ultrasound. It will easy your mind to see the yolk sac and fetal pole. My RE sees me every 10 days until 12 weeks and then releases me to my OBGYN

My next ultrasound is April 2nd and will be looking for a heartbeat then.

Good luck and let me know if you decide to get that ultrasound.

This is all so exciting - so you could see everything at 5 weeks 2 days the same as i am now.

I have rang the private hospital and they said they can do it next tuesday when i will be 5 weeks 6 days as they only do them on a tuesday but need a referral from my GP which i can get on monday cos i have an appointment fo rblood pressure etc

watch this space ............. will let you know what happens!!!!!

I think you are making a very smart decision to pay and have the ultrasound! You'll find your mind at ease once you see that little embie on the screen. Good luck, and I'll be waiting to hear from you next week!
