Anyone not have mature eggs at end of IVF cycle?
Anyone not have mature eggs at end of IVF cycle?
I've been through 2 rounds of IVF treatments and both times my eggs failed to mature with HCG. My doctor says this is extremely rare (he could only find 1 case study on it) and thinks we'll have to use an egg donor. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, have any of you successfully used your own eggs that resulted in a baby? Any info is appreciated!

We went threw our 1st IVF last summer, had unexplained infertility until we had ER and we got 10 eggs but out of 10 5 never had a shell and 3 not mature (no yolk), our DR could only find one other case study too from Amercia i have done lots of searching, i found the case but can't find if they did have child. Hopefully next month after careful explanations we are trying ICSI with short protocol, so fingers crossed if we don't get the same outcome it might of been the drugs or protocol, if the same again we too will have to go down other routes, maybe donor eggs. Our DR couldn't say why this happened as they never had anything to compare it with, so thats why they said try again. I hope this helps. Are you trying again? Fingers crossed if you are x

I'm actually going through one last round next month. My doctor changed the protocol to have Lupron be the trigger vs. HCG (Lupron causes the pituatary gland to release higher amounts of LH). He said it's a toss-up as to it's efficacy. He did give me a case study from Isreal that followed 7 women who did not have any mature eggs during IVF cycles. The bad news is that most of them had to use donor eggs as their eggs never matured, but they did successfuly get pregnant with the donor eggs.
When do you start your next cycle? Would love to hear about your results. Best of luck!!

We hopefully try again in April, just waiting to hear from the clinic from some results and then we shall get the ball rolling, not sure which drugs or anything yet, she wanted to get my FSH levels back first, so we shall see.

I hope everything went well yesterday and you finally got some answers!
What did they tell you? Are you having another go?
I had my bloods done and they haven't said anything different, so we are going for it next AF which fingers crossed if it doesn't come eraly will be Easter weekend on the short protocol with ICSI.

Unfortunately it didn't work. The eggs are still arrested in the M1 phase. Had a good talk with my doctor yesterday and I think we're going to move forward with donor eggs. It's really too bad, but at least I've had 2 months to get used to the idea. Guess worse things could have happened! Best of luck with you over the next 2 weeks! Let me know how it goes!

Sorry it didn't work out for you, what does it mean that your eggs are still arrested in M1 phase? Sorry different terms across the water.
Glad you have decided to move forward with donor eggs though? Is there a long waiting list for these? What timescale are you looking at?

From my understanding, there are 3 phases of egg maturity. M1 just means that they are stuck in the first phase and can't get through the other 2 phases.
We're going to see our doctor next week to figure out the whole donation thing. No idea about waiting lists or anything just yet. Have you heard anything yet about your next cycle? Best of luck!!!
