Hi girls
Just a question on your thoughts about the nuchal scan and amnio. My ob has advised me to have these two procedures done. And I really don't think I want these procedures done because 1 If i knew something was wrong that would make me stress out even more through my pregnancy and two I wouldn't terminate a pregnancy regardless of the outcome. But my ob said wouldn't you want to prepare for something if you knew and I said we'll what will be will be. Now i'm having mixed emotions. Im just thinking I don't care I'll just wait till the baby arrives
Does anyone know where im coming from cheeky

hi there... i too felt like you, and chosse not to have either done, but on our 20 week scan they saw a few "downs markers" and it was too late to do the nuchal... so we still worry, and we wll not do the amino because of the risks...
i guess what i wouls say is that it is you decision, but the nuchal posses no risks... you could do that, and opt for not doing the amino.. if it is all well, then you can relax that all is well... or if you do the nuchal with adverse outcomes, you can prepare either way because it's not 100%..
You and your doctor's need to be prepared. The nuchal scan has no risk and they usually do a detailed full organ assessment during that scan. Our close friend's opted out and delivered a Down's baby with a huge heart defect. The baby almost died because no one was prepared and the child had to be life flighted to a speciality center. Don't take any unnecessary risk after working so hard to get pregnant. Good luck with your pregnancy!
Hey Cheekyone~ It's so hard to know or not to know. Either way we worry but we did decided to do the nuchal scan just to be prepared. I'm surprised that at 36 years of age your OB is suggesting both the nuchal and amnio. I would think he would have said to do the nuchal first and if there was any questions or concerns then to proceed but everyone is different.
In the end just follow your heart. I wouldn't have terminated either but I do wanted to be prepared and have had time to learn more about any problems the babies may be up against. When ours came back with great results we sure felt great and a weight was lifted. Best of luck with your decision.
Take care~

Hi guys
Thanks to you all for replying it has put me in a better decision to decide what to do. It just seems so frustrating because in one hand I think I'm doing the right thing than in the other Im not.
