Hi Jane,
Thanks for posting and sharing - so thrilled for you both that the situation in May has been sorted and you dont' have to worry about it anymore. As if you don't have enough on your mind without hubby being away.

I haven't cried now for quite some time but i TOTALLY understand how you feel. You dont' need to explain to me how you feel, as i totally understand. We are both grieving for the dream we have lost, the children we have lost (that we hoped to have naturally) - don't feel like you need to say you are grateful for having hubby's sperm - yes you are lucky but it does not minimise what you still have to endure as a woman, as a wife and as a mother to be. Everything you say makes perfect sense to me - just this morning when i was sitting in the waiting room at the lab waiting for yet another blood test, i thought about how over all this i am - and how lucky others are...........you are so normal to have those thoughts and feelings and i guess having a good cry and acknowleging them is very very healthy- honestly Jane it will make you a better mother to be able to get those feelings out, deal with them and move on. I often think that if i melt down. No point bottling this up and having to deal with it when its time to go down the track for any subsequent children we try for later one.

About feeling bad for your DH and what he has to go through - ive read that woman in our situation feel extra "protective" of their partners when they face these situations - i guess that is true, it broke my heart thinking about what my DH had to face - but you are so right in saying this situation is out of our control. I think it just shows you are an amazing woman who is very caring and thoughtful of what her partner has to face, and that is certainly something to be proud of.

I dont' know about you, but my marrige is so much stronger for this journey we have faced together. We still have a long way to go, but we are getting there - together.

We are all brave Jane, and fingers crossed 2007 is our year to be come mothers (Well at least pregnant!!!)

I do feel protective of DH but this whole process has made us a very strong couple, we were always strong before but I am determined that if we aren't successful that we will still be a team. I remember reading a magazine article years ago before we started TTC about a woman who said that IVF changed her life, basically she lost her husband in the process because the relationship wasn't strong enough to stand the pressure and they split. I have always said that when / if things get tough our relationship is more important than a baby and I will look after what I've already got and forget about what I haven't (hopefully that would work, sounds a bit too easy!). DH being away makes me realise that although we're independent people we really do belong together and I'm counting the days until he's back

So, I'm raising an imaginary glass (non alcoholic of course ) to all of us for being so brave and strong while acknowledging the fact that we are also allowed to cry so that we can become better mothers in the future. Also, a toast to us becoming pregnant this year

Gargy, thanks for your babydust. Sending some your way too I see that you've already had two IUIs. Any advice for preparation?

Jane, my doctor told me that as long as you live near by you can have your hubby do it at home if you live within 30 minutes or less away. You may want to ask your doctor. I know that you can also have his sperm frozen for future use, however, it is not as good as fresh and frozen once thawed only stays alive in your body for at max 2 days. Fresh can live for up to 5 days. So fresh is your advantage. Hope this helps. Good luck ladies to all of us. Lets get some BFPs this month.

We live exactly half an hour away from our clinic but they prefer to take the sperm sample on site. I hate having to put my hubby through that but he is ok with it. I'm planning to go and buy something sexy to surprise him with on the day Will take my mind off my experience. It seems odd to be waiting for a period instead of hoping that it won't come.
