pessaries

morning all.<br><br>can someone tell me........i luckely got a positive on friday, and i have been told to stop pessaries straightaway,has anyone else been told this??<br><br>hope everyone is well.<br>beck xx

Beck, thats fantastic news, congratulations on a 'positive result'. WRT the pessaries, if its the progesterone ones you mean, I had to keep taking them for another 4wks. When I was handed over to the regular dr for antenatal checkups he said progesterone pessaries never helped anyone !! but I kept taking them anyway as the fertility clinic had said to. So obviously theres various opinions out there. It might be best to ask exactly why you should stop, I'm sure they have their reasons.<br>love Wendy xxx

Hi Beck<br><br>Congratulations on your fantastic news!!<br><br>I had the very same dilemma about the pessaries when I got my positive result two weeks ago. I was also told to stop taking them straightaway by my clinic, so I did. But I then panicked about it a bit after reading that they were absolutely essential in the early days of an IVF pregnancy, plus most of the other girls on this site have been told to carry on taking them. So I queried it with the embryologist on the ff website who told me that by 'early days' they mean the first 14 days after et. After that if your positive your body will start to produce enough pregesterone of its own apparently to support the pregnancy. He said to always follow your clinincs advice as they know your particular circumstances which I guess makes sense.<br><br>Anyway if it's any help I stopped 14 days after et after my +ve result and touch wood have been fine up to now. I even felt less nauseus after stopping them. But I can't wait til my scan now this Friday 8th so I can please god be reassured that everythings ok in there. I mean all I've done so far is wee on a stick so I need more peace of mind, if that makes sense!<br><br>Take care and keep in touch<br><br>Jules xxx<br><br>

jules...your a star........thanks i was so down about it today.<br>but you have put a smile on my face, must say i have felt sick from them.<br><br>i done my last one last night, and tried phoning but no answer.<br><br>can i ask are you doing tests regulary??<br>i done another one tonight and it was alot fainter than yesterday but saying that i did my others 1st thing in the morning.and this one was tonight..<br><br>good luck<br>beck xxxx

Hi Beck - I have finished my pessaries now I only had 4 left after wednesday and they told me to drop to 1 each night until they were finished which was last night. The clinic told me too that my body would be producing enough chemicals of it's own so I don't need anything else. Can't wait for scan on 13/11 - I think it will finally sink in then.<br>Lots of Love<br>Louise XXX

Hi all,

I just got a positive result last week - 17 days after egg retrieval and a number of 584. Obviously a good strong number. I'm now close to 5 weeks pregnant. But I have had diminishing breast tenderness. They were sore right near the end of my treatment and have been slowly going back to normal. I woke up this morning and there was absolutely no tenderness? Has anyone had this happen? Should I be concerned?

I have another blood test to check my levels this Thursday but I want some info - like asap....

Any help is appreciated.
